5.6 Salary Step After Promotion or Demotion <br /> <br /> When an employee is promoted from a position in one class <br /> to a position in a higher class, he/she shall receive the <br /> minimum rate for the higher class; provided however, that <br /> such step is at least five percent (5%) above his/her <br /> current wage rate. When an employee is demoted, whether <br /> such demotion is voluntary or otherwise, that employee's <br /> compensation shall be adjusted to the salary prescribed <br /> for the class to which he/she is demoted. The specific <br /> rate of pay within the range shall be determined by the <br /> City Manager, whose decision shall be final; provided, <br /> however, that the employee's rate of pay shall not be set <br /> at a lower rate of pay than he/she would have received <br /> had he/she remained in the lower class. <br /> <br />Section 6. Hours of Work, Shift & Station Assiqnments <br /> <br />6.1 Work Schedule <br /> <br /> The work schedule shall consist of nine (9) twenty-four <br /> (24) hour on-duty periods within a twenty-seven (27) day <br /> cycle to be worked in accordance with the following <br /> chart: <br /> <br /> X = 24 hour on-duty period <br /> O = 24 hour off-duty period <br /> <br /> XOXOXOOOOXOXOXOOOOXOXOXOOOO <br /> <br />6.2 Exchanges of On-Duty Time <br /> <br /> Exchanges of on-duty time shall be permitted between <br /> employees of the same rank. Exchanges of on-duty time <br /> shall not be granted in cases that result in financial <br /> liability to the City. Requests for exchanges of on-duty <br /> time shall be submitted on the proper form to employee's <br /> immediate supervisor and shall include both signatures of <br /> the people involved and their immediate supervisor. <br /> There shall be no limit to the number of exchanges per <br /> month. The employees involved in the exchange shall make <br /> arrangements for the pay back of time. <br /> <br /> In the event the Fire Chief finds it necessary, he will <br /> meet and discuss with the Union the application of <br /> exchanges of on-duty time. <br /> <br /> - 10 - <br /> <br /> <br />
