THE CITY OF <br />j~L£~1S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />August 21, 2007 <br />Parks and Community Services <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF PROPOSED FY2007/08 PARK RENOVATION FUND <br />PROJECTS <br />SUMMARY <br />Beginning is 1990, the City established a series of replacement/renovation funds where <br />reserves are accumulated to fund future replacement costs. As part of the City's <br />replacement Plan, the Park Renovation Fund provides for major renovations to City <br />parks, facilities, and street medians. For FY2007/08, $607,462 is available for <br />renovation projects. A significant portion of this year's funding, $490,000 is <br />recommended for replacement of street median landscaping. Funding in the amount of <br />$50,000 is recommended for the replacement of the brick barbeque at Amador <br />Recreation Center, the wood gazebo at Mission Hills Park and the wood fencing at Fire <br />Station #3. Another $27,000 is needed to replenish the protective wood chip mulch at <br />various playgrounds throughout the City, and $40,000 is proposed to begin design work <br />on play structure replacements at four (4) play areas planned for replacement in 2008- <br />10. <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />That the City Council approve the proposed list of Park Renovation projects for <br />FY2007/08. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff concurs with the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Sufficient funding is available in the FY2007/08 Park Renovation Fund to offset the cost <br />of the proposed improvements. <br />
