Task 2-1.4: Coordination <br /> <br />Meet with Caltrans and the CITY at the beginning of the de- <br />sign to confirm understandings, requirements, and expecta- <br />tions and timely receipt of Caltrans design directives re- <br />garding the project. Coordinate design work for this pro- <br />ject with that for other projects such as the 1-680/I-580 <br />interchange and BART extension in Alameda County. Coordi- <br />nate technical matters with Caltrans District 4 staff in <br />each specialized area to prepare project plans and confer <br />with Caltrans Office of Structures and FHWA for other tech- <br />nical concerns. <br /> <br />Coordinate with the CITY and Caltrans in scheduling and at- <br />tending Project Development Team (PDT) meetings during the <br />design period. Provide agenda items, participate in dis- <br />cussions, and prepare meeting minutes; establish standard <br />agenda items including issuance and receipt of all Caltrans <br />design directires. Additionally, CONSULTANT will use its <br />best efforts to obtain design directives and changes from <br />Caltrans at the earliest possible time. <br /> <br />Schedule and attend meetings with the CITY, Caltrans, FHWA, <br />and other affected agencies and organizations required to <br />obtain data, perform project work, and accomplish design <br />requirements. <br /> <br />The CONSULTANT will provide technical and nontechnical coor- <br />dination with Caltrans and other governmental agencies as <br />may be needed to submit, expedite, monitor, and secure in- <br />termediate and final approvals during project execution. <br />The CITY will provide appropriate timely assistance when <br />requested by the CONSULTANT to expedite reviews and appro- <br />vals, and to resolve conflicts with Caltrans and other gov- <br />ernmental agencies. <br /> <br />Task 2-1.5: Quality Control <br /> <br />Review technical work for accuracy and completeness. Edit <br />written material for grammatical correctness, consistency in <br />format, graphic presentation, and references. Review engi- <br />neering drawings with respect to conformance with Caltrans <br />standards. Monitor the overall process for conformance with <br />Caltrans, FHWA, and CITY design requirements. <br /> <br />TASK 2-2: FINAL DESIGN <br /> <br />The purpose of this task is to perform the detailed design <br />of the project and produce the construction drawings, <br />special provisions, and construction estimate in Caltrans <br />format required for the contract document. The contract <br />document will cover the work necessary to bid and construct <br />the bridges, ramps, freeway auxiliary lanes, and roadway <br />sections included in the project.
