Task 2-1.4: Coordination Meet with Caltrans and the CITY at the beginning of the de- sign to confirm understandings, requirements, and expecta- tions and timely receipt of Caltrans design directives re- garding the project. Coordinate design work for this pro- ject with that for other projects such as the 1-680/I-580 interchange and BART extension in Alameda County. Coordi- nate technical matters with Caltrans District 4 staff in each specialized area to prepare project plans and confer with Caltrans Office of Structures and FHWA for other tech- nical concerns. Coordinate with the CITY and Caltrans in scheduling and at- tending Project Development Team (PDT) meetings during the design period. Provide agenda items, participate in dis- cussions, and prepare meeting minutes; establish standard agenda items including issuance and receipt of all Caltrans design directires. Additionally, CONSULTANT will use its best efforts to obtain design directives and changes from Caltrans at the earliest possible time. Schedule and attend meetings with the CITY, Caltrans, FHWA, and other affected agencies and organizations required to obtain data, perform project work, and accomplish design requirements. The CONSULTANT will provide technical and nontechnical coor- dination with Caltrans and other governmental agencies as may be needed to submit, expedite, monitor, and secure in- termediate and final approvals during project execution. The CITY will provide appropriate timely assistance when requested by the CONSULTANT to expedite reviews and appro- vals, and to resolve conflicts with Caltrans and other gov- ernmental agencies. Task 2-1.5: Quality Control Review technical work for accuracy and completeness. Edit written material for grammatical correctness, consistency in format, graphic presentation, and references. Review engi- neering drawings with respect to conformance with Caltrans standards. Monitor the overall process for conformance with Caltrans, FHWA, and CITY design requirements. TASK 2-2: FINAL DESIGN The purpose of this task is to perform the detailed design of the project and produce the construction drawings, special provisions, and construction estimate in Caltrans format required for the contract document. The contract document will cover the work necessary to bid and construct the bridges, ramps, freeway auxiliary lanes, and roadway sections included in the project. Final design will be based - 4 -
