3.2 Salary Range Adjustments. Management employees shall <br /> be eligible for a salary adjustment on October 1st of <br /> each year. Salary increases shall be made on the basis <br /> of individual performance. Under special circum- <br /> stances, individual management employees may receive a <br /> salary adjustment at times other than October 1st. All <br /> salary adjustments shall be approved by the city manag- <br /> er. <br /> <br /> Confidential employees shall be eligible for a merit <br /> increase on their anniversary date until the top of <br /> their salary range is reached. Advances shall not be <br /> automatic, but shall depend on rendering satisfactory <br /> performance. Following adjustments in the salary range <br /> of their classification, confidential employees shall <br /> be placed at the same salary step in the revised range <br /> that they held in the former range. <br /> <br /> 3.3 Salary Setting - Original Appointment. Upon approval <br /> of the city manager, newly-appointed management and <br /> confidential employees shall be assigned a salary <br /> within their classification salary range for which <br /> their education, experience and training qualifies <br /> them. <br /> <br /> 3.4 Salary Setting - Promotion. When a management or <br /> confidential employee is promoted, he/she shall be <br /> assigned a salary within the range of new classifica- <br /> tion that is at least five percent above the salary <br /> held in the former classification. <br /> <br />Section 4. Special Pay <br /> <br /> 4.1 Overtime - Middle Management Employees. Specified <br /> middle management employees may be eligible for over- <br /> time compensation under special circumstances approved <br /> by the city manager. Said overtime shall be compen- <br /> sated at a rate equal to one and one-half (1-1/2) <br /> times the employee's regular rate of pay calculated to <br /> the nearest one-tenth (1/10) of an hour. <br /> <br /> Overtime - Confidential Employees. Confidential em- <br /> ployees who are required to work after completion of <br /> their work day shall be entitled to overtime compensa- <br /> tion for all hours so worked, provided, however, that <br /> the overtime rate shall be computed at one and one-half <br /> (1-1/2) times the employee's regular rate of pay as <br /> calculated to the nearest one-tenth (1/10) of an hour. <br /> Confidential employees may be compensated for overtime <br /> worked either by monetary payment or by compensatory <br /> time off, at the option of the employee. Compensatory <br /> time shall accrue at the rate of one and one-half (1- <br /> 1/2) times the overtime hours worked. Compensatory <br /> <br /> - 4 - <br /> <br /> <br />
