b. Non-reSident: A non-resident is any client not
residing within the City limits of Pleasanton.
Non-resident Fee - $3.00 per class, except aquatic
training classes, $10.00 per class.

c. Late Fee: Registration is considered late if
completed after the fifth working day prior to the
day a class begins with the exception of Aquatics.
Aquatics late fee begins 2 working days prior to
first class. Late Fee - $2.00 per class.

Justification for Changes

1. Non-resident aquatic fee increase is based on
the recovering full class cost for non-
residents. Class fee for Pleasanton residents
Is kept below cost in recognition of the value
of encouraging class participation to assure a
local pool of certified people for staffing
local pools.

2. Aquatic late fee exception is proposed to
allow parents an opportunity to wait with
registering a a child until the conclusion of
a class in order to register the child at the
proper level.

d. Returned Check Service Fee: $10.00 per class.
B. FEE CLASS

The cost of fee classes is set to attempt to return the
full cost of the instructor(s) and materials plus an
additional 30% for program supervision and office
support.

Fee class instructors are paid either hourly or on a
contractual basis as determined by department staff and
instructor. Entering into a contract for program
service often allows the flexibility needed to provide a
program. A copy of the contract is attached for
information and approval. (Attachment A) The Recreation
Supervisor in charge of the fee classes negotiates the
contract.

Definition

a. Unit of Measure: The unit/hour cost is computed by
determining the total cost of the class per person
and dividing by the number of class hours.

3
