~- PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2519 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO AMEND CERTAIN <br />SECTIONS OF THE ZONING CODE RELATING TO TEMPORARY <br />SUBDIVISION AND REAL ESTATE SIGNS ADJACENT TO FREEWAYS <br />WHEREAS, The Planning Commission has applied to amend certain <br />sections of the zoning code as they pertain to temporary <br />subdivision and real estate signs adjacent to freeways; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of July 11, 1984 <br />the Planning Commission considered the staff report of <br />that same date, public testimony and relevant exhibits <br />relating to this application; and <br />WHEREAS, this matter was continued to September 12, 1984 because <br />the Planning Commissionson wished further information <br />with regard to the type of design standards which could <br />be used by the Design review Board in considering <br />temporary signs adjacent to freeways; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff recommended that the best way to control temporary <br />signs adjacent to freeways is to require Design review <br />Board approval of such signs over 12 sq. ft. in size by <br />amending Sections 2-9.46(f) and 2-9.46(h) and adding <br />Section 2-9.47 (and renumbering all of the following <br />sections); and <br />WHEREAS, The Planning Commission concurred with the Staff's <br />recommendations as stated in the staff report of <br />September 12, 1984 except that a one year limit should <br />be placed on the approval. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1. Recommends the following amendments to the zoning <br />code: <br />1. Amend Section 2-9.46(f) to read - "Such signs may be <br />established along, but not within, the right-of-way <br />of any highway, street or thoroughfare. Where such <br />signs are within 1000 ft. of the right-of-way of any <br />freeway, they shall be subject to review and <br />approval by the Design Review Board. In conjunction <br />with the approval of such signs, the Design Review <br />Board may require the applicant to enter into an <br />agreement with the City to maintain the sign in an <br />- 1 - <br />
