~- PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF ALAMEDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 2519 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE ZONING CODE RELATING TO TEMPORARY SUBDIVISION AND REAL ESTATE SIGNS ADJACENT TO FREEWAYS WHEREAS, The Planning Commission has applied to amend certain sections of the zoning code as they pertain to temporary subdivision and real estate signs adjacent to freeways; and WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of July 11, 1984 the Planning Commission considered the staff report of that same date, public testimony and relevant exhibits relating to this application; and WHEREAS, this matter was continued to September 12, 1984 because the Planning Commissionson wished further information with regard to the type of design standards which could be used by the Design review Board in considering temporary signs adjacent to freeways; and WHEREAS, Staff recommended that the best way to control temporary signs adjacent to freeways is to require Design review Board approval of such signs over 12 sq. ft. in size by amending Sections 2-9.46(f) and 2-9.46(h) and adding Section 2-9.47 (and renumbering all of the following sections); and WHEREAS, The Planning Commission concurred with the Staff's recommendations as stated in the staff report of September 12, 1984 except that a one year limit should be placed on the approval. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: Section 1. Recommends the following amendments to the zoning code: 1. Amend Section 2-9.46(f) to read - "Such signs may be established along, but not within, the right-of-way of any highway, street or thoroughfare. Where such signs are within 1000 ft. of the right-of-way of any freeway, they shall be subject to review and approval by the Design Review Board. In conjunction with the approval of such signs, the Design Review Board may require the applicant to enter into an agreement with the City to maintain the sign in an - 1 -
