20.24.145 <br />ing, water-flow alarm(s), FM 200 <br />system(s), and trouble signal(s) etc. <br />shall be distinctly different and shall <br />be automatically transmitted to an <br />approved Underwriters Laboratory <br />(UL) Central Station Service as spec- <br />ified in NFPA 72-1996 Edition. <br />2. All Fire alarm system(s) alarm <br />initiation and signaling shall comply <br />with the provisions in Uniform Fire <br />Code Section 1007.3.3.3. <br />Valve monitoring and water-flow <br />alarm and trouble signals shall be <br />distinctly different and shall be auto- <br />matically transmitted to an approved <br />central station, remote station or <br />proprietary monitoring station as <br />defined by national standards, or, <br />when approved by the building offi- <br />cial with the concurrence of the chief <br />of the fire department, sound an <br />audible signal at a constantly attend- <br />ed location. <br />(Ord. 1806 § 2, 2000) <br />2. To receive a permit, each per- <br />son(s) must submit an application <br />and permit fee to the Livermore <br />Pleasanton Fire Department. The per- <br />mit shall be issued when the Depart- <br />ment determines that: <br />(a) The applicant has proper <br />equipment and is sufficiently quali- <br />fied to perform installation and ser- <br />vicing of fire alarm systems. <br />(b) The applicant meets the Na- <br />tional Alarm Code (NFPA 72-1996 <br />Ed.) requirements for the instal- <br />lation, testing, inspection, and <br />maintenance of Central Station <br />Service fire alarm systems. The <br />Fire Prevention Bureau may grant <br />exemptions from such requirements <br />where it determines that an exemp- <br />tion is necessary to protect public <br />health, safety, and welfare. <br />3. Every permit issued in accor- <br />dance with these provisions shall be <br />valid for a period of one (1) year <br />from the date of issuance. <br />20.24.150 Section 1007.2.1.3 <br />Added -Fire Alarm <br />Company Permit And <br />Qualifications: <br />UFC section 1007.2.1.3 is added to <br />the uniform fire code to read: <br />Section 1007.2.1.3 <br />1. No person(s) may install or ser- <br />vice any fire alarm system or auto- <br />matic fire extinguishing system un- <br />less they have received a permit to <br />conduct such activity under the pro- <br />visions of this section. <br />4. Applications for renewal of a <br />permit shall be filed in the same <br />manner as for an original application <br />for permit. Each application shall be <br />accompanied by a renewal fee as <br />specified by resolution adopted by <br />City Council. <br />5. The Chief shall have the authori- <br />ty to suspend or revoke a permit <br />where there is evidence of incompe- <br />tence, willful, or negligent fraud or <br />failure to perform properly and effec- <br />tively the duties assumed by the <br />710_15 (Pleasanton April 2001) <br />
