20.24.145 ing, water-flow alarm(s), FM 200 system(s), and trouble signal(s) etc. shall be distinctly different and shall be automatically transmitted to an approved Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Central Station Service as spec- ified in NFPA 72-1996 Edition. 2. All Fire alarm system(s) alarm initiation and signaling shall comply with the provisions in Uniform Fire Code Section 1007.3.3.3. Valve monitoring and water-flow alarm and trouble signals shall be distinctly different and shall be auto- matically transmitted to an approved central station, remote station or proprietary monitoring station as defined by national standards, or, when approved by the building offi- cial with the concurrence of the chief of the fire department, sound an audible signal at a constantly attend- ed location. (Ord. 1806 § 2, 2000) 2. To receive a permit, each per- son(s) must submit an application and permit fee to the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department. The per- mit shall be issued when the Depart- ment determines that: (a) The applicant has proper equipment and is sufficiently quali- fied to perform installation and ser- vicing of fire alarm systems. (b) The applicant meets the Na- tional Alarm Code (NFPA 72-1996 Ed.) requirements for the instal- lation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of Central Station Service fire alarm systems. The Fire Prevention Bureau may grant exemptions from such requirements where it determines that an exemp- tion is necessary to protect public health, safety, and welfare. 3. Every permit issued in accor- dance with these provisions shall be valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of issuance. 20.24.150 Section 1007.2.1.3 Added -Fire Alarm Company Permit And Qualifications: UFC section 1007.2.1.3 is added to the uniform fire code to read: Section 1007.2.1.3 1. No person(s) may install or ser- vice any fire alarm system or auto- matic fire extinguishing system un- less they have received a permit to conduct such activity under the pro- visions of this section. 4. Applications for renewal of a permit shall be filed in the same manner as for an original application for permit. Each application shall be accompanied by a renewal fee as specified by resolution adopted by City Council. 5. The Chief shall have the authori- ty to suspend or revoke a permit where there is evidence of incompe- tence, willful, or negligent fraud or failure to perform properly and effec- tively the duties assumed by the 710_15 (Pleasanton April 2001)
