20.08.045 <br />the uniform building code parts 1, 2 <br />and 3 is amended to read as follows: <br />Standards. Fire-extinguishing sys- <br />tems shall comply with City of <br />Pleasanton Sprinkler Standard 9-3 <br />(NFPA 13D 1999 Edition) for one to <br />fifteen family dwelling units (not <br />exceeding 12,000 sf in any one <br />building), and UBC Standard 9-1 for <br />all other occupancies. <br />(Ord. 1806 § 2, 2000; Ord. 1778 § 2, <br />1999; Ord. 1669 § 2, 1995) <br />20.08.046 Section 1703 First <br />Paragraph Only <br />Amended - <br />Nondestructive Testing: <br />Section 1703 of the California build- <br />ing standards code 1998 edition (24 <br />CCR), and including by reference the <br />uniform building code, 1997 edition, <br />parts 1, 2 and 3 is amended to read as <br />follows: <br />1703. In Seismic Zones 3 and 4, <br />and in buildings in Seismic Zone No. <br />2 with an importance factor I greater <br />than 1.0, all complete-joint-penetra- <br />tion groove and partial-joint-penetra- <br />tion groove welded joints in Special, <br />Ordinary and Special Truss Moment <br />Frames; in Special and Ordinary <br />Concentrically Braced Frames, and in <br />Eccentrically Braced Frames that are <br />subject to net tensile forces as part of <br />the Lateral Force Resisting System <br />shall be tested in accordance with <br />AISC Seismic Part I Section 16. This <br />testing shall be a part of the special <br />inspection requirements of Section <br />1701.5. A program for this testing <br />shall be established by the person <br />responsible for structural design and <br />as shown on plans and specifications. <br />(Ord. 1778 § 2, 1999) <br />20.08.048 Section 904.2 <br />Amended -Automatic Fire <br />Extinguishing Systems: <br />Section 904.2 of the California build- <br />ing standards code 1998 edition (24 <br />CCR), and including by reference the <br />uniform building code parts 1, 2 and 3, <br />is amended to read as follows: <br />904.2. Automatic Fire Extinguishing <br />Systems <br />904.2.1 Where required. An auto- <br />matic fire extinguishing system shall <br />be installed in the occupancies and <br />locations as set forth in this section. <br />904.2 An automatic fire extinguish- <br />ing system or other approved fire <br />suppression system(s) shall be in- <br />stalled as follows: <br />1. In every story and basement of <br />all occupancies exceeding 8,000 <br />square feet. <br />Exceptions: <br />1. Group R, Division 3 Occu- <br />pancies. <br />2. Group U, Division 1 private <br />garages of 1,000 square feet or <br />less. <br />3. Group U, Division 2 Occu- <br />pancies. <br />2.
