(Ord. 1780 § 1, 1999) <br />2.34.020 Membership - <br />Compensation - <br />Staff Liaison: <br />A. The Commission shall consist of <br />seven (7) regular members and one <br />alternate member. Six (6) of the mem- <br />bers and the alternate shall be appoint- <br />ed by the Mayor pursuant to the City <br />Council resolution establishing proce- <br />dures for appointments to City boazds <br />and commissions. One member shall be <br />appointed by the Mayor after receiving <br />a recommendation regarding the ap- <br />pointment from the Pleasanton Library <br />League. <br />B. Except for the first term as pro- <br />vided in this Chapter, Commission <br />members shall serve terms of four (4) <br />years. The first Commission to be ap- <br />pointed shall, at its first meeting so <br />classify its members by lot that two (2) <br />shall serve for one yeaz, three (3) shall <br />serve for two (2) yeazs and two (2) <br />shall serve for three (3) yeazs. At the <br />expiration of each of the terms so pro- <br />vided for, successors shall be appointed <br />by the appropriate body or person for a <br />term of four (4) years. <br />C. The maximum term of service <br />shall be eight (8) yeazs, pursuant to the <br />City Council resolution establishing <br />terms of service on City boards and <br />commissions. <br />D. Commission members shall be <br />compensated as established by City <br />Council resolution. <br />E. The Director of Librazy Services <br />or the Director's designee shall be the <br />staff liaison to the Commission and <br />shall keep a true and accurate account <br />of all actions of the Commission. (Ord. <br />1780 § 1, 1999) <br />2.34.030 Vacancies: <br />When a vacancy occurs in the Com- <br />mission, appointment shall be made to <br />fill the unexpired term. (Ord. 1780 § 1, <br />1999) <br />2.34.040 Organization: <br />A. Members of the Commission shall <br />meet in regular session and elect a <br />chairperson and vice chair. The election <br />shall be by a majority vote of the Com- <br />mission, to be held in December of <br />each yeaz. The term of service for these <br />1.
