2.33.010 <br />Chapter 2.33 <br />PLEASANTON PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />Sections: <br />2.33.010 Established <br />2.33.020 Library Board Of <br /> Trustees Created <br />2.33.030 Organization <br />2.33.040 Meetings <br />2.33.050 Duties And <br /> Responsibilities <br />2.33.010 Established: <br />The City does establish the <br />Pleasanton Public Library and adopts <br />the provisions of the State pertaining to <br />public libraries as set forth in Educa- <br />tion Code section 18900 et seq., regard- <br />ing the regulation and maintenance of a <br />public library. (Ord. 1779 § 1, 1999) <br />2.33.020 Library Board Of Trustees <br />Created: <br />There is created a Pleasanton Library <br />Board of Trustees, hereafter referred to <br />as the Board. <br />A. The Board shall consist of five (5) <br />members. <br />B. The members of the City Council <br />shall serve as the Board. (Ord. 1779 <br />§ 1, 1999) <br />2.33.030 Organization: <br />The Mayor shall serve as the Board <br />president, and the Vice Mayor shall <br />serve as the Board vice president. (Ord. <br />1779 § 1, 1999) <br />1. Gov.C. § 54950.5 et seq. <br />2.33.040 Meetings: <br />A. Meetings shall be held at least an- <br />nually, with a time, date and place <br />noticed in accordance with subsection <br />B of this Section. <br />B. Special meetings may be called at <br />any time by the Board president or by <br />three (3) trustees when notice is provid- <br />ed as required by the Ralph M. Brown <br />Act'. <br />C. A majority of the Board shall <br />constitute a quorum for conducting <br />business. <br />D. The City Clerk shall keep a prop- <br />er record of Board proceedings. (Ord. <br />1779 § 1, 1999) <br />2.33.050 Duties And <br />Responsibilities: <br />A. The Board may make and enforce <br />all rules and regulations necessary for <br />the administration, government, and <br />protection of the libraries under its <br />management, and all property belong- <br />ing thereto. <br />B. The Board shall have the authori- <br />ty regarding administration, purchase <br />and disposition as provided by <br />Education Code section 18900 et seq., <br />as may be amended. <br />C. The powers of the Board are dele- <br />gated to the Pleasanton Library Com- <br />mission except that, the following ac- <br />tions shall not be final until approved <br />by the Board: <br />1. Approval of the annual operating <br />and capital budgets for the library; <br />2. Acquisition of real property; <br />3. Issuance of debt; <br />4. Adoption of major policies related <br />to library operations including those <br />32-1 (Pleasanton April 2000) <br />
