6.40.140 <br />6.40.140 Driver's Permit - <br />Requirements: <br />The Chief of Police shall not issue a <br />driver's permit: <br />A. If the applicant is under twenty <br />one (21) years of age. <br />B. If the applicant does not possess a <br />valid license issued by the State of the <br />appropriate class. <br />C. If the applicant has been convict- <br />ed of reckless driving or driving while <br />under the influence of intoxicating bev- <br />erages or drugs within the past seven <br />(7) years, from the date of application. <br />D. If the applicant has been convict- <br />ed of a felony or crime involving moral <br />turpitude. <br />E. If the applicant, having submitted <br />to a drug/alcohol test in accordance <br />with section 53075.5 of the Govern- <br />ment Code, receives a positive test <br />result. (Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.150 Driver's Permit - <br />Issuance: <br />Upon satisfying the requirements of <br />this Chapter, the Chief of Police shall <br />issue a driver's permit to the applicant <br />which shall bear the name, address, <br />age, signature and photograph of the <br />applicant. (Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.160 Driver's Permit -Display: <br />Every driver issued a permit under <br />this Chapter shall post his or her <br />driver's permit in full view of all pas- <br />sengers. (Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.170 Driver's Permit - <br />Temporary: <br />The Chief of Police may grant a <br />temporary permit to operate a taxicab <br />pending final action on any application <br />for a permanent driver's permit as <br />provided in this Chapter, but no such <br />temporary permit may be issued to any <br />person who does not have a valid li- <br />cense issued by the State for the appro- <br />priate class. This temporary permit <br />shall authorize the driver thereof to <br />drive any such vehicle for a period of <br />thirty (30) days. (Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.175 Change Of Employment: <br />If a driver changes his or her em- <br />ployment to a different owner, he or <br />she shall, within twenty four (24) hours <br />thereafter, notify the Chief of Police for <br />the purpose of having his or her <br />driver's permit changed so as to proper- <br />ly designate the name of the new em- <br />ployer. (Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.180 Change Of Address: <br />If a driver changes his or her resi- <br />dential address, he or she shall, within <br />ten (10) days thereafter, notify the <br />Chief of Police for the purpose of hav- <br />ing his or her driver's permit changed <br />so as to properly designate his or her <br />residential address.
