20.16.020 20.16.020 Added -Section 111.2 Penalties: Section 111.2 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and including by reference the Uniform Mechanical Code, 2000 Edition, is amended as follows: 111.2 Penalties. Penalties for viola- tions will be as provided in Section 1.12.020 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. (Ord. 1869 § 4, 2002; Ord. 1778 § 4, 1999; Ord. 1169 § 6, 1984; Prior Code § 2-14.29) 20.16.030 Section 108.1 Amended - General: Section 108.1 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and including by reference the Uniform Mechanical Code, 2000 Edition is amended as follows: 108.1 General. This Chapter and the adopted Uniform Mechanical Code shall be enforced by the Chief Build- ing Official of the City acting either directly or through properly autho- rized agents acting within the scope of the particular duties delegated to them by the Chief Building Official; for such purpose the Chief Building Official or his agent shall have the power of a police officer. The Chief Building Official shall have the power to render interpreta- tions of this code and to adopt and enforce rules and regulations supple- mental to this code as may be deemed necessary in order to clarify the application of the provisions of this code. Such interpretations, rules and regulations shall be in conformi- ty with the intent and purpose of this code. The language used in this Code is intended to convey the common and accepted meaning familiar to the heating, venting and comfort cooling industry to determine the intent and meaning of any provision of this Chapter. Such determinations shall be made, in writing, and a record shall be kept in the office of the Department of Public Works, which record shall be available to interested parties. (Ord. 1869 § 4, 2002; Ord. 1393 § 2, 1989; Prior Code § 2-14.33) 20.16.040 Interpretation: (Rep. by Ord. 1869 § 4, 2002) 20.16.050 Variances: The chief building official shall have the power to grant a variance to any of the provisions of the adopted uniform mechanical code upon application, in writing, by the affected party or his duly authorized agent, when there are practical difficulties in the way of car- rying out the strict letter of the code; provided, that the spirit of the code shall be observed, public health, safety and welfare secured and substantial justice done.
