20.12.110 <br />shall be given by the city clerk by <br />publication once in a newspaper of <br />general circulation published within the <br />city limits at least ten (10) days prior to <br />said hearing. <br />D. A full record, in writing, shall be <br />submitted by the board of appeals, set- <br />ting forth reasons for the action taken. <br />E. The council shall find whether, in <br />its opinion, an error was made. <br />F. The council may affirm, reverse or <br />modify the action appealed, as it deems <br />just and equitable and exercise all <br />rights of other officers or the board of <br />appeals. <br />G. Action of the city council may be <br />reviewed by competent courts. (Prior <br />Code § 2-13.39) <br />20.12.120 Liability: <br />No officer, agent or employee of the <br />city shall render himself personally <br />liable for any damage that may accrue <br />to persons or property as a result of any <br />act required or permitted in the dis- <br />charge of his duties under this chapter. <br />Any suit brought against any officer, <br />agent or employee of the city, as a <br />result of any act required or permitted <br />in the discharge of his duties under this <br />chapter shall be defended by the city <br />attorney until a final termination of the <br />proceedings. (Prior Code § 2-13.41) <br />20.12.130 Act Not Exclusive: <br />Nothing in this chapter shall be con- <br />strued to abrogate or impair the power <br />of the city, or any department thereof, <br />to enforce any provision of its ordi- <br />nances or regulations, nor to prevent or <br />punish violations thereof, and any pow- <br />ers conferred by this chapter shall be in <br />addition to and supplemental to powers <br />conferred by other laws, nor shall this <br />chapter be construed to impair or limit <br />in any way the power of the city to <br />define and declare nuisances and to <br />cause their removal or abatement by <br />summary proceedings or in any other <br />manner provided by law. (Prior, Code <br />§ 2-13.42) <br />20.12.135 Deletions: <br />(Rep. by Ord. 1778 § 3, 1999) <br />20.12.140 Section 710.1 Amended - <br />Drainage Of Certain <br />Fixture: <br />Section 710.1 of the California <br />Building Standards Code 2001 Edition <br />(24 CCR), and including by reference <br />the Uniform Plumbing Code, 2000 <br />Edition, is amended as follows: <br />Drainage piping serving fixtures <br />which have flood level rims less than <br />twelve (12) inches (304.8 mm) above <br />the elevation of the next upstream <br />manhole and/or flushing inlet cover <br />at the public or private sewer system <br />serving such drainage piping shall be <br />protected from back flow of sewage <br />by installing an approved type back- <br />water valve.
