Plumbing fix- <br />tures shall be provided for the type <br />of building occupancy and in the <br />minimum number shown in Table <br />A-29-A, of Appendix Chapter 29 of <br />the California Building Standards <br />Code 2001 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and <br />including by reference the Uniform <br />Building Code, 1997 Edition. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 3, 2002; Ord. 1778 § 3, <br />1999) <br />604.1 Water pipe and fitting shall be <br />of brass, copper, cast iron, galva- <br />nized malleable iron, galvanized <br />wrought iron, galvanized steel, or <br />other approved materials. Cast iron <br />fittings used for water need not be <br />galvanized if over two (2) inches (51 <br />mm) in size. Asbestos-cement, <br />CPVC, PE, or PVC water pipe manu- <br />factured to recognized standards may <br />be used for cold water distribution <br />outside a building. All materials used <br />in the water supply system, except <br />valves and similar devices shall be of <br />alike material, except where other- <br />wise approved by the Chief Building <br />Official. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 3, 2002; Ord. 1778 § 3, <br />1999; Ord. 1169 § 4, 1984; Prior Code <br />20.12.040 Enforcement: <br />This chapter and the adopted uniform <br />plumbing code shall be enforced by the <br />chief building official of the city acting <br />either directly or through properly <br />authorized agents acting within the <br />scope of the particular duties delegated <br />to them by the director of public works. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 3, 2002; Prior Code <br />§ 2-13.32) <br />20.12.050 Interpretation: <br />The language used in this chapter <br />and in the adopted uniform plumbing <br />code is intended to convey the common <br />and accepted meaning familiar to the <br />plumbing industry. Should any question <br />arise, the chief building official is <br />authorized to determine the intent and <br />meaning of any provision of this chap- <br />ter.
