Footings and foundations shall be constructed of masonry, concrete or treated wood in confor- mance with Division II and shall extend below the frost line. Footings of concrete and masonry shall be of solid material. Foundations support- ing wood shall extend at least 6 inches (152 mm) above the adjacent finish grade. Footings shall have a minimum depth as indicated in Table 18-I-C unless another depth is rec- ommended by a foundation investiga- tion. Aminimum of one top and one bottom continuous bars of 1/2" diam- eter reinforcing steel shall be re- quired in all continuous concrete or masonry bearing foundations. Parts I and III, dated April 15, 1997 and Supplement No. 2, dated November 10, 2000. 2210 -ADOPTION Except for the modifications as set forth in Sections 2211 and 2212 of this division and the requirements of the Building Code, the seismic de- sign, fabrication, and erection of structural steel shall be in accordance with the Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings, April 15, 1997 published by the American Institute of Steel Construction, 1 East Wacker Drive, Suite 3100, Chicago, IL 60601, as if set out in length herein.
