Reinforced concrete or reinforced <br />masonry elements designed primarily <br />as axial-load members shall comply <br />with Section 1921.4.4.5. <br />20.08.040 Section 108.9 Inspections <br />- Adopted: <br />Section 108.9 of the California <br />Building Standards Code 2001 Edition <br />(24 CCR), and including by reference <br />the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edi- <br />tion, is amended to read as follows: <br />2. Reinforced concrete elements de- <br />signed primarily as flexural members <br />and supporting other than light-frame <br />wood shear wall systems or light- <br />frame steel and wood structural panel <br />shear wall systems shall comply with <br />Sections 1921.3.2 and 1921.3.3. <br />Strength computations for portions of <br />slabs designed as supporting ele- <br />ments shall include only those por- <br />tions of the slab that comply with the <br />requirements of these Sections. <br />3. Masonry elements designed pri- <br />marily as axial-load carrying mem- <br />bers shall comply with Sections <br />2106.1.12.4, Item 1, and <br />2108.2.6.2.6. <br />4. Masonry elements designed pri- <br />marily as flexural members shall <br />comply with Section 2108.2.6.2.5. <br />5. Steel elements designed primarily <br />as flexural members or trusses shall <br />have bracing for both top and bottom <br />beam flanges or chords at the loca- <br />tion of the support of the discontinu- <br />ous system and shall comply with the <br />requirements of AISC-Seismic Part I, <br />Section 9.4b. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 2, 2002; Ord. 1778 § 2, <br />1999) <br />Inspections. In addition to scheduled <br />inspections required herein, the <br />Building Official shall inspect any <br />existing building or structure within <br />the City when requested to do so by <br />an owner or person acting under <br />authority of the owner. Such request <br />shall be made in writing on forms <br />furnished for such purpose. An appli- <br />cation shall be signed by the appli- <br />cant who may be required to submit <br />evidence to indicate such authority. <br />A statement of all findings shall be <br />sent to the applicant and owner and a <br />record shall be kept on file in the <br />office of the Building Official.
