Geotechnical Engineering Services Proposal PR89055
For Pavement Failure Evaluation June 28, 1989
Northbound Section of Hopyard Road Page 3
City of Pleasanton

c. Summary of Laboratory Test Data;

d. Summary of existing geotechnical data pertaining to
the project area;

e. Discussion of overall pavement and subsurface soil and
water conditions (if encountered);

f. Discussion of cause(s) of the roadway distress;

g. Recommended alternative schemes for the mitigation of
the pavement failure.

h. Recommendation regarding the preferred, cost-effective
and technically feasible pavement repair measure; and

i. Recommended conceptual plans and specifications
including pavement and subgrade excavation, back- -'
filling, drainage and compaction requirements, for
the selected repair scheme.

SCHEDULE AND FEES

We would mobilize for this project within one week of your
approval and authorization to proceed provided the necessary
encroachment and .drilling permits could be obtained within
this time period. The field reconnaissance, literature review,
borings, and laboratory testing would take three weeks to
complete. A draft report containing the results of our investi-
gation, together with our conclusions and recommendations, would
be submitted within seven to eight weeks of your authorization
to proceed. The final report wouldbe submitted within one week
following receipt of comments on our draft report.

Our fee for this work would be computed in accordance with our
Fee Schedule (copy attached). Based on this schedule, we
estimate that total charges for the scope of work outlined
herein would be $17,000 to $20,000. The cost estimate includes
approximately $1,500 for providing the necessary traffic control
during boring operation. The total fee would be reduced by the
same amount ($1,500) if the traffic control is provided by the
City. An itemized breakdown of the estimated charges is
attached. We have assumed that you will assure our unimpeded
access to the site during the course of this investigation.

BSK
& Associates
