Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566

Dear Mayor Mercer:

We are writing this as an addendum to the letter Dave Adams sent
to your City on the subject of our fiscal year budget (1989-1990)
for the Tri-Valley Community Television Corporation.

It is our belief that you should have the information which is'
set forth below prior to making your decison.

The original budget request for $120,000, which would fund cur-
rent programming plus 16 weeks of news, is, in our opinion,
insufficient. We are receiving widespread acclaim for our
programming, especially for 580/680 News. Therefore we beleive
that it is essential to not only maintain current production, but
to reach our original goal of 52 weeks of continuous programming
so that viewing Channel 30 will become a way of life in the eve-
ning for Valley residents.

It is important to maintain consistency in our programming to
retain viewership and staff. To shut down for 36 weeks (as the
first budget request necessitates) would lose both viewers and
reporters.

We do not intend to only request funding from the different
councils, but to also actively pursue grants and endowments from
other sources as well.

We recommend that you alter the earlier budget request as
follows:

"News" Budget Per City
52 weeks $170,000 $42,500

After talking to various elected officials we feel that the in-
crease in our budget is not without support.
