BACKGROUND <br />The City of Pleasanton opened the Callippe Preserve Golf Course in the Fall of 2005. <br />The only access to the public golf course is through the temporary access located on <br />the south end of Alisal Street. To get to the temporary access, all traffic must use the <br />local streets in the Happy Valley Neighborhood. There are two routes through the <br />neighborhood and include either Sunol Boulevard to Sycamore Road to Alisal Street to <br />Westbridge Lane or Pleasanton /Sunol Road to Happy Valley Road to Westbridge Lane. <br />Upon the opening of the golf course, the residents along Sycamore Road, Alisal Street <br />and Happy Valley Road experienced both an increase in the number of vehicles and the <br />average vehicle speed. Due to these increases, the Pleasanton City Council directed <br />staff to use the City of Pleasanton's Traffic Calming Program to develop some short- <br />term solutions to the speeding concerns.
