CALL TO ORDER -PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />Chairperson Ellgas called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was <br />recited. <br />Commissioners Present: Commissioners Jim Dibiase, Teddy Kinzer, Kurt Kummer, Jerry Pentin, and <br />Chairperson Karen Ellgas. <br />Commissioners Absent: None. <br />Staff Present: Jim Wolfe, Parks and Community Services Director; Lisa Hagopian, Parks <br />Maintenance Superintendent; Fan Ventura, Management Analyst; Mike <br />Fulford, Landscape Architect; and Edith Caponigro, Recording Secretary. <br />Consultants Present: Wayne Rasmussen and Jacque Keller. <br />2. DISCUSSION OF POTENTIAL RECREATIONAL AMENITIES FOR THE PROPOSED <br />STAPLES RANCH COMMUNITY PARK <br />Mr. Wolfe advised that the purpose of the workshop was to oversee a public planning process for the <br />proposed 17-acre Staples Ranch Community Park, as requested by the City Council. The proposed park <br />site is located near the I-680/El Charro Road interchange, and includes both recreational and commercial <br />aspects. At its February 8, 2007 meeting, the Commission adopted a planning process and schedule for <br />conceptual design of the project, and provided input for conducting the first public workshop. Mr. Wolfe <br />advised that the Commission had been asked by the Council to consider a Sharks Ice Facility proposal, <br />and specific amenities for the park. <br />Wayne Rasmussen -provided the Commission with a brief overview of the planning process, and the <br />request by the City Council that the Commission receive public input and consider the Sharks facility as <br />one of the possible uses for the park. <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes <br />March 1, 2007 <br />Page 1 <br />
