THE CITY OF <br />L£~S~4NTONo <br />July 17, 2007 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER IN THE <br />ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $65,000 FOR ANNUAL CURB AND GUTTER <br />REPLACEMENT, PROJECT NO. 065009 <br />SUMMARY <br />Plans, specifications, and a construction contract were approved for the subject project <br />by City Council on June 19, 2007. In anticipation of the start of the contract work, the <br />City's maintenance crews performed preparatory work which revealed the need for <br />additional curb replacement on Division Street. Initial pavement removals revealed <br />additional damage of the underlying curb and gutter requiring its removal and <br />replacement. Therefore, staff is recommending approval of Contract Change Order <br />No.1 in the estimated amount of $65,000 to replace approximately 750 linear feet of <br />curb and gutter and 2,200 square feet of adjacent side walk/driveway on Division Street. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve contract Change Order No.1 in the estimated amount of $65,000. <br />2. Authorize the transfer of $65,000 from CIP No. 075003 (Annual Resurfacing of <br />Various Streets) to this year's Curb and Gutter project, CIP No. 065009. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Staff recommends that $65,000 be transferred from the Annual Street Resurfacing <br />Project, CIP No. 075003, to the Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement Project, CIP No. <br />065009, to fund the cost of the additional work. The overall project will result in a <br />decrease in the maintenance costs associated with the ongoing repairs of the existing <br />curb and gutter and sidewalk. <br />17 <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />
