PUBLIC HEARINGS - NBW BUSINBSS <br />a <br />application for an amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 520 to rezone from as A <br />(Agricultural) Dtatrict to an 0 (Office) District and a P (Public sad Institu- <br />tional) Matrict, that property described as the eouthvest corner of Black <br />Avenue and Santa Rita itoad, containing approximately 11.25 acres. <br />Chairman Plato opened the Public Hearing. Planning Director Castro sequested <br />that thin matter be continued to the next regular meeting on February 12 to allow <br />time to contact tha State Health Department regarding statements made to the <br />Planning staff regarding hospital planning facilities, ae it has come to the <br />attention of the Planning Department that the statements given by this institution <br />and on which the staff report was based, were erroneous. <br />Mr. William Gale - 62 W. Neal Street - spoke as representative for the applicant <br />and concurred with the recomendation of the Planning Director. He explained that <br />a letter dated January 15, 1969, from Wm. S. Carnazzo, M. D., for George Collins,M.D., <br />Chairman of the local Physicians Committee, requested a continuance until they <br />could request the Bay Area's Medical Planning Co®i.asion to make a feasibility <br />study of the area on hospitals and where they should be located. <br />Plana that will be resubmitted, will eliminate any general hospital completely, ae <br />a 12-acre site ie not large enough for such an institution. The new request will <br />be limited to a medical center and comraleacent hospital. <br />Upon motion of Coamiasioner Arnold, seconded by Cosmisaioner Carrigan, and carried, <br />the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Arnold, seconded by Chairman Plato, and carried, the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />-3- <br />
