;, <br />. ~ ~-. <br />Dr. Long explained that the Jaycees had volunteered to do the landscaping and if <br />necessary, the Pleasanton Gardens organization could pay for the landscaping but <br />at great sacrifice, since the original appropriation of funds from the Federal <br />Government to construct the 40-unit housing project at 251 Kottinger Avenue, had <br />been almost all used up due to inflation. However, the doctor guaranteed completion <br />of this work by the Jaycees, the corporation, or even by himself, if need be. <br />He further stated that the Jaycees would probably begin their landscaping work in <br />October, and complete it that same month. <br />It was finally agreed that an extension to December 15, 1969 be given to Pleasanton <br />Gardens, Inc. This motion was offered by Commissioner Antonini, seconded by <br />Chairman Garrigan and carried. <br />b. Setbacks for the Falender Homes development. <br />Chairman Garrigan, along with the other Commissioners, felt that Planning Director <br />Castro should handle this matter. <br />12. REFERRALS FROM RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION. <br />a.Commissioner Pons advised that he had had a discussion with Mr. Gary Patton, <br />Director of Parks and Recreation. A meeting was scheduled for the evening of <br />October 9, with the meeting beginning at 6:30 PM, with dinner following at <br />8:00 PM. Sunol Golf Club was chosen as the meeting place. <br />The Planning Director was instructed to contact the Recreation and Parks Commission <br />Chairman to make the arrangements. <br />A tentative agenda for this meeting would be to review existing parks and select <br />possible future sites. <br />13. MATTERS FOR INFORMATION OF COMPASSION. <br />c.It was brought to the attention of the Commission that Kaiser Industries had <br />submitted two parcels for minor subdivision approval on Stanley Boulevard. <br />d.This concerned the questionnaire on the Valley Trails sidewalk survey. Tentative <br />arrangements were made for Commissioner Pereira to meet with Planning Director <br />Castro and Co®missioner Gibbs to assemble and tabulate the results. <br />e.Article 2 (Setbacks) and Article 13 (P.U.D.). <br />This item was referred back to the Commission by Council for clarification of <br />intent. The City Attorney was present and discussed with the Commissioners the <br />manner in which they wished him to present this item again to Council. <br />14. MATTERS INITIATED BY COP4fISSION ME[~ffiERS. <br />a.Chairman Garrigan advised the members that due to the extremely heavy agendas, <br />for the meetings in September, he felt that the Commission should plan to keep <br />the month of October open for extra study sessions to clean up pending items. <br />b.Commissioner Pons referred to two recent magazine articles concerning 1) Garden <br />Court housing in Sunset Magazine, and 2) an excellent article in the September <br />issue of Better Homes and Gardens regarding housing in general, and in particular, <br />low-cost housing. <br />There being no further business, upon motion of Chairman Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pereira, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 10;s~ °M <br />- 8 - <br />
