IN THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF AL4MEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />Minutes <br />March 3, 1960 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Pleasanton Planning Commission was called to order <br />at the City Hall on March 3, 1960 at 8:00 P.M. Chairman Hanifen presiding. <br />ROLL CALL: Present - Commissioners Allison, Landon, Lozano*, Mitchell and Hanifen <br />Commissioner Lozano arrived at 8:05 P.M. <br />Commissioner Mitchell arrived at 9:20 P.M. <br />On motion of Commissioner Lozano, seconded by Commissioner Allison, and approved by all pre- <br />sent, the minutes of February 18, 1960 were approved as Yorwarded by the Secretary. <br />Mr. William H. Gale, Jr. came before the Commission with his application for a Variance of <br />setback requirements on his property located at the southeast corner of the intersection <br />on Neal and Third Streets. Commissioner Tendon made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Lozano, and approved by all Commissioners present, that RESOLUTION N0. 93 be sent to the <br />City Council, recommending that the building setback measure 15' from the sidewalks on Neal <br />Street and 15' from the inside edge of curb line on Third Street: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 93 <br />Recommending to the City Council the Granting of Variance on Application oY William <br />H. Gale, Jr.,3b3 Neal Street, Pleasanton, California, filed February 16, 1960, for <br />relief from setback requirements required by un-repealed portions of Ordinance No. <br />228, as amended. <br />The above described application, having been duly considered, pursuant to <br />Ordinance No. 228, as amended, of the City of Pleasanton, and good cause appearing; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Planning Commission does hereby recommend as follows: <br />1) That public hearing has been duly held. <br />2) That the Planning Commission Yinds the conditions requiring such a <br />variance have been met. <br />3) That a variance is hereby recommended as follows: <br />the building setback measure 15' from <br />the sidewalk on Neal Street and 15' <br />Prom the inside edge of curb line on <br />Third Street <br />4) That the Secretary is hereby instructed to forward copies of this <br />resolution to the applicant, city officers and any other interested <br />parties. <br />Delmer R. and Madge D. Merton came before the Commission with their application for a <br />Conditional Zoning Permit to raise pigeons on the property located at 3955 and 3971 Vine- <br />yard Avenue. They plan to have ten houses, with about 300 pigeons to each house. He will <br />be using the latest methods in raising these pigeons and pens will be about 18" off the <br />ground. Mrs. Hall and Mr. Uomini both protested the granting of this application on the <br />grounds that it would be detrimental to new homes in the area. Paul Loretz spoke Yor the <br />granting of this application. He stated that it would bring in new people and business <br />to the community. Commissioner Allison made a recommendation to postpone this matter <br />until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 1960, the next regularly scheduled Planning Commission <br />Meeting, so a public hearing could be called. Conmmissioner Lozano seconded this recommen- <br />dation, and all Commissioners present were in agreement. <br />John O'Brien came before the Commission with his application for a Conditional Zoning <br />Permit to operate a Pleasanton Heights Swim Club.
