PL4NNING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION N0. 125
Whereas, the Alameda County planning Commission is presently considering amendments
to its Zoning Ordinance which would change the permitted ].and use from agricultural to
heavy industrial of an area consisting of approximately 678 acres located southerly of U.
S. Highway 50 and westerly of Hopyard Road; and
Whereas, said area proposed to be rezoned has been included in the "Pleasanton
Planning Area" for the purpose of advisory review by the City of Pleasanton relative to
proposed totting changes; and
Whereas, the City of Pleasanton is presently studying the extensiott of its official
General Plan to include said area proposed to be rezoned and has set an initial hearing
date For said General Plan extension for Febru$ry 16, 1961;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, as follows:
1. The City of Pleasanton does hereby urge the Alameda County Planning Commission
to deny the request to rezone said area Prom agricnx].tural to heavy industrial.
2. This request and recommendation is made for the following reasons:
a. The rezoning of the area in question may well result in overzoning for
industry in the "Pleasanton Planning Area."
b. Heavy industrial development of the type allowed by the Alameda County
Zoining Ordinance would create serious air pollution problems for the entire Amador Valley.
c. Heavy industrial development of the type allowed by the Alameda County Zoning
Ordinance is much less restrictuve than that allowed by the Pleasanton Zoning Ordinance.
Such development in the area in question under the Alameda County Zoning Ordinance would
not be compatible with the flrture application of the Pleasanton General Plan and Zoning
Ordinance, and would tend to nullify the "Industrial Park" concept embodied in the City
oP Pleasanton Zoning Ordinance.
d. Heavy industrial zoning and development in the area in question may well
prove to be incompatible with the eventual land uses in the surrounding areas.
3• The City staff is hereby instructed to forward copies of this resolution to all
interested parties.
Mr. Fales read a communication from the County Planning Commission denying the
application of Orin Crowe.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on motion of Commis-
sioner Iandon, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and approved by all Commissioners present,
the meeting was adjourned at 9:50 P.M. to meet again on January 5, 1961 at 8:00 P.M, at
the City Hall.
~~
~ /%
i L C ~~
/ ,~
J mes M. ales, Jr. - Sec tart'
