The Commissioners reviewed the "Statement of Goals contained in the current
General Plan". The following modifications or supplementations of these
goals were agreed upon.
1. That all area within the Pleasanton Planning Area should remain
in present use until such time as the area is annexed by the
City, and that the zoning be up-graded in con3unction with
annexation and development proceedings.
2. That in open-space areas, the Comrission reserves the right to
designate Park and School sites.
3. That consideration be given to installation of walkways k3thin
the City and that areas for bridle paths be reserved in the
hilly areas.
4. That it is a policy of the City to declare intent to zone for
gravel pit areas and to actively reclaim abandoned gravel pits
for recreational or other purposes; i. e., swimming, boating and
picnic areas.
Secretary Fales was asked to incorporate the above with the Statement
of Goals contained in the present General Plan and to submit same to the
Commission for further consideration at their next meeting.
Secretary Fales stated a policy statement could be outlined to inform
all subdividers that certain areas must be reserved for parks. No action
by Commission at this time.
Councilman Cairo commented upon the use of abandoned gravel pits for
recreational purposes, stating that the gravel companies have initiated a
program of clearing sites of the abandoned pits, as the companies wish to
maintain good relations with nearby communities.
On motion of Commissioner Allison, seconded by Commissioner Hanifen,
the meeting was adjourned at 10:10 p.m. to meet again in regular session
at 8:00 p.m. on April 20, 1961.
_ _ _ _ _ r.
