Secretary Fales reported on the intent of Al Urricelqui and Robert <br />Stearns to construct and operate a private recreation center consisting of <br />a picnic park, play area, s~riuuning pool, trout fishing stre~sn and ponds and <br />a trout hatchery on a parcel containing approximately 60 acres, located on <br />$ie westerly side of State Highway $1., approximately 1.8 :Hiles north of Sunol <br />in Pleasanton Townskup, in a "a-2" (General Agriculture) District. On motion <br />of Commissioner Mitchell, seconded by Commissioner Landon, and ~nroved by all <br />Commissioners present, Secretary Fales was instructed to communicate the <br />favorable concurrence of the Fleasanton Planning Commission to Robert Williams <br />of the County Planning Commission, on the above. <br />Secretly Fales read a letter Prom the Chamber of Commerce regarding a <br />site for the new Post Office. Nr. Tleil Moore, Presz7ent of the Pleasanton <br />Chamber of Commerce, was present and spoke in behalf of the Chamber of Commerce <br />about obtaining a site as quicY.ly as possible, and summarized the pros and cons <br />of the new site. bZr. James Trimingham, Secretary-Manager of the Alameda County <br />Fair, was also present and stated his views, concurring with those of Dlr. P~Ioore <br />and the Chamber of Commerce. On motion of Commissioner Pti.tchell, seconded by <br />Commissioner Landon and approved by all Commissioners present, Secretary Fales <br />was instructed to write to the Post Office and point out the various requirements <br />of the Zoning Ordinance in connection with the building of a new post office. <br />On motion of Commission Landon, seconded by Conuaissioner Lozano and approved <br />by all Commissioners present Resolution ido. 148 was adopted. <br />RESOLUTIOPd N0. 148 <br />Whereas, the present Post Office Building and location is not adequate to <br />serve the people of the City of Pleasanton; and <br />Whereas, the City of Pleasanton has by Ordinance Ido. 309 adopted April 18, <br />1960 established zones and recommended standards for such governmental facilities; <br />and <br />Whereas, said standards include off-street parking, loading and similar <br />facilities and traffic problems in connection with post offices; <br />T104I, THEREOL'RE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1) The Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton does hereby recommend <br />that the United States Government choose a new Post Office site for Pleasanton in <br />the expanded business district, in keeping with the "central commercial core" <br />concept of the master plan. <br />2) The decision be made as soon as humanly possible, to allow an early <br />construction date. <br />3) That adequate land be obtained to provide for expansion of facilities as <br />the City grows. <br />4) Copies of this Resolution will be sent to all interested agencies and <br />persons. <br />The subdivision Ordinance was placed on the June 1, 1961 Agenda at 7:30 P.M. <br />Secretary Fales read Resolution AB 2560 on the Bay Area Regional Planning <br />District. Planning Commission had no recommendations at this time, but instructed <br />Mr. Fales to get a summary on same. <br />There being no iltrther business to come before the Commission, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 10:40 P.M. on n9tion of Commissioner Landon, seconded by Com- <br />missioner Lozano and approved by a71 commissioners present, to meet again on <br />June 1, 1961 at 7:30 P.24.. <br />Secretary <br />__-. _ r _ <br />__ <br />
