R-1 District has come before this Commission; and
WHEREAS, this Commission does find that the granting of this Variance
would not be a benefit to public safety and general welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the above-named application for a Variance from Section
17.6G5, Ordinance No. 3G9, is not approved by this Commission.
Mr. Tendon then informed the Taylors that they have seven (7) days
in which to file an appeal before the City Council.
Mr. Tendon then opened the Public Hearing on the application of A.
Hilliker, 439A Foothill Road, to rezone that property fronting on the
south side of St. John Street from the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-
way to the C.C. (Community Commercial) District on Main Street from R-1
(Single Family Residential) District to RG-15 (Residential Garden Apart-
went - 1500 Square Foot Minimum Per Dwelling Unit) District.
Mr. Hilliker submitted his plans, which were shown, and spoke on
behalf of his request for rezoning.
Mr. Jack Vizzolini, who owns some neighboring property, inquired as
to the offstreet parking for Mr. Hilliker's proposed apartment building,
and was assured by Mr. Hilliker that adequate offstreet parking is planned.
There were no other comments for or against this application for
rezoning from the floor, and Mr. Tendon then closed the Public Hearing.
Mr. Fales gave the Staff's report on the application, first reading
the RG-15 zoning laws, and referred to the Pleasanton General Plan stating
that the expected population density for this particular area would create
a need for this type building in future planning and development. The
Staff's conclusion was that this request is in keeping with the Pleasanton
General Plan and, therefore, the Ordinance should be changed in this in-
stance.
A discussion by the Commission followed Mr. Fales' report, and, on
motion by Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Chairman Mitchell, the follow-
ing resolution was unanimously adopted:
RESOLUTION N0. 165
WHEREAS, the application of A.
