No. 309, to rezone the property bounded
by Division Street, the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way, Roae Avenue, and the
Community Commercial (C-C) District on the west side of Main Street; and the proper-
ty bounded by the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way, Rose Avenue, Weat Angela
Street and Augustine Street, from an R-1 (single-family residential) District, to
an RG-15 (residential garden apartment, 1500 aq. ft. minimum) District. Vice-
Chairman Landon called on Secretary Falea to give the staff report. Secretary Fales
stated that in recent weeks the Commission has had before it applications for re-
zoning by Mrs. Axma H, Brown and Mr. Jay D. Lambert from R-1 to RG-LS and RG-25,
respectively. Secretary Fales presented a map which designated the area to be con-
sidered for RG-15 zoning, which is the highest density to which Pleasanton can zone-~
approximately 8 families per acre. The area in question is adjacent to the Central
Business District, and the General Plan indicates this area's ultimate development
should be multiple-family dwe111ngs. Because it is an older poxtlon of the communes
ity and there is an increasing need in the community for residential garden type
multiple dwellings, and because the proposed rezoning conforms to the General Plan,
Mr, Fales stated the staff recommends that the Commission in turn recommend to the
City Council that Ordinance No. 304 be amended in order to rezone the area in
question from R-1 to RG-15. No one spoke from the audience and the public hearing
was closed. After considerable discussion by the Commission, on motion of Commis-
sioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Rega, the following resolution was unani-
mouslp adopted:
RESOLUTION N0. 180
WHEREAS, the application of the City of Pleasanton Planning Commission, made under
Section 22.101 of Ordinance No, 309, to rezone that property bounded by
Division Street, the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way, Roae Avenue, and the
Community Commercial (C-C) District on the west aide of Ma1n Streety and the proper-
ty bounded by the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way, Rose Avenue, Weat Angela
Street and Augustine Street, from an R-1 (Single-Family Residential) District to as
RG-15 (Residential Garden Apartment--1500 Square Foot Minimum per Dwelling Unit)
District under Ozdinance No. 309 has come before this Commission; and
WHEREAS, this Commission does find that:
1.
