given to the Council upon request, but no action was taken. The matter was brought
up to the farthest point short of condemnation proceedings, but the City could not
finance the payment for the right-of-way at this point. Vice-Chairman Landon sug-
gested the possibility of a bond issue. Secretary~Fales reminded the Commission that
this area is not within the City limits. Vice-Chairman Landon remarked that this
could be the first step in developing an overall park program. Vice-Chairman Landon
asiced if the Commission would look into the situation during October, if possible,
and set a public hearing to see if there is sufficient interest.
A discussion ensued between Mr. Fairfield and the Commissioners regarding planned
unit development as related to the Pleasanton Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Falea stated
that from his experience he has found that Pleasanton's Zoning Ordinance is more
advanced than other cities in the area in this respect. Mr. Falrfield observed that
new ideas are currently emerging regarding planned unit development, whereupon Mr.
Falea thought perhaps there should be amendments to the Planned Unit Development
section of our Zoning Ordinance.
Under Communications, Secretary Falea read a letter from Mr. Robert Williams, Alameda
County Planning Director, asking for the Commission's comment and recommendations re
rezoning of 50 acres of land at the northwest intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and
State Highway 21. Secretary Fales agreed to contact the County Planning Department
to secure more detailed information.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion of Com-
missioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Wipfli, and carried, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:40 P.M., to meet again at 8:00 P. M, on Thursday, October 4, 1962,
