constructed in the area in a similar or exact manner to Chat proposed by Mr. Navalea. <br />Construction has already commenced, but Mr. Navales was warned that it is an illegal <br />construction without application for a Variance or Building Permit having been made. <br />Mr. Navalea explained he began construction a week before he applied for the subject <br />Variance, as he was unaware of the necessity of application for a Variance. Follow- <br />ing discussion by the Commission, upon motion of Chairman Landon, seconded by Com- <br />missioner Wipfli, the following resolution was unanimously adopted by those Com- <br />misaioners present: <br />RESOLU'LION N0. 2S6 <br />WHEREAS, the application of Lawrence Navales, 340 Abbie Street, for <br />a Variance from Section 16.602, Ord. No. 309, in order to <br />allow construction of an accessory building (carport) within five feet <br />of the aide lot line, and within ten feet of the existing residential <br />structure, at the above location in an R-1 District, has come before <br />this Commission; <br />NOW, THEREFORR, BE IT RESOLVED P.S FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Variance is hereby graated subject to the following <br />condition: <br />a. The accessory building must conform, in all respects, <br />to the City Building Code. <br />The next item on the agenda was consideration of new type fire hydrants. Mr, Fales <br />explained that there is a neo-r type fire hydrant of considerably radical design from <br />previous ones. It is a green bar-type fire hydrant. The staff is awaiting a report <br />from the Pacific Fire Rating Bureau, and upon receipt of further information will <br />report to the Commission. <br />Chairman Landon mentioned that subdividers and P.G.& E. are experiencing some dif- <br />ficulties inatituCing a modified underground utilities system. Mr. Falea said it <br />is his understanding that P.G.& E, has had some difficulty in making the transition <br />in commercial and industrial areas; however, it will soon become a necessity be- <br />cause developers are requesting modified underground utilities and cities are re- <br />quiring their installation, Mr. Fales stated further that in our current subdivi- <br />sions P.G.& E, is committed to modified underground wiring in both residential and <br />comntcrcial areas. <br />At the conclusion of the matters on the agenda, Mr. J.D. Lambert, who was present <br />in the audience, asked the Commission to preliminarily review his proposed 4-unit <br />multiple dwelling to be located at 399 W, Angela Street. However, the Commission <br />asked that formal application be made before consideration ie given to the matter. <br />There being no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion of Com- <br />missioner Lozano, seconded by Commissioner Rega, the meeting was adjourned at <br />8:44 P.M., to meet again on ?dedneaday, December 11, 1963, at E:00 P.M. <br />
