Chairman Landon then opened the public hearing on the application of George A.
Spiliotopoulos, (Standard Cheese Co.), 830 Main St., fora Conditional Uae Permit
in order to install a 6,000 gallon silo-type milk storage tank on a concrete slab
located outside the present manufacturing facility adjacent to the north wall, in a
C-C District. Mr. Falea, in giving the staff report, slated that a cheese factory,
although not specifically mentioned, would seem to be an allowed conditional use
in a C-C District. The staff recommends granting Che Conditional Uae Permit sub-
ject to whatever site location, architectural or landscape control the Commission
in its discretion sees fit to impose. Mr. Spiliotopoulos was present in the
audience and stated that the tank would be a temporary installation and would be
connected to the building by a steel tunnel when it is permanently located at the
rear of the existing lot. There being no further comments from the audience, it
was moved by Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and carried,
that the public hearing be closed. Mr. Spiliotopoulos stated that because of the
concrete area and the need for milk trucks to use the driveway, it would be unfeas-
ible to camouflage the tank. Upon inquiry by Commissioner Lozano as to the length
of time the temporary use ie expected to extend, Mr. Spiliotopoulos replied he has
no exact estimate, only that the new facility is on the drawing boards at the
present time.
