<br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at
<br />8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, October 28, 1964, by Chairmen Landon.
<br />ROLL CALL showed the following:

<br />Upon motion of Comffiaeioner Lozano, aecoaded by Commtealoner Antonini, the ffinutee
<br />of the meeting of October 14, 1964, were approved ae presented by unanimous vote.
<br />Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the application of Reno Cairo, 4355
<br />Second St., for a Variance from Section 7.500, Ord. No. 309, in order to allow
<br />construction of a covered patio within the rear and side-yard setbacks at the above
<br />address in an R-2 District. This public hearing was continued from the meetings
<br />of September 23 and October 14, 1964. Mr. Fales stated that the staff report remains
<br />the same as that given at the last meeting. Mr. Cairo was present in the audience
<br />and explained that he has now revised hie plane to include merely an 8'x20' structure
<br />to cover plants and rock area on the north aide of the subject property. Therefore,
<br />a Variance is requested from the required 5 ft. aide-yard setback to 3~ ft. Also,
<br />approximately 35%-40% of the rear yard is proposed to be covered, whereas the re-
<br />quirement is that no more than 30% of the rear-yard area be covered. The staff
<br />indicated that the Variances seem to be reasonable as presented at this time. It
<br />was moved by Commissioner Lozano, seconded by Commissioner Antonini, and carried,
<br />that the public hearing be closed. After discussion by the Commission, upon motion
<br />of Comffiesioner Rega, seconded by Commissioner Johnston, the following resolution
<br />was adopted by unanimous vote;

<br />WAERHAS, the application of Reno Cairo, 4355 Second St., for a Variance
<br />from Section 7.500, Ord. No. 309, in order to allow construction
<br />of a covered patio within the rear and aide-yard setbacks at the above
<br />address in an R-2 District, hoe come before this Commission;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
<br />RHSOLVED, that the above-named Variance is hereby granted subject to the
<br />following condition:
<br />1. The proposed covered patio must suet ell other
<br />applicable codes and ordinances of the City.
<br />Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the application of Chris Beratlie,
<br />550 Main St., for a Variance from Section 6.500, Ord. No. 309, in order to allow the
<br />construction of two single-family dwellings with a reduced site width, at 366
<br />Christina Court, in an R-1 District. Mr. Fales explained that Minor Subdivision
<br />application No. MS64-4 was filed for the subject property on October 7, 1964. The
<br />Subdivision Committee met oa October 20, 1964, to consider this particular applica-
<br />tion for s minor eubdivision. The staff recommends that a Variance from the Bite
<br />width requirements of Ordinance No. 309 be granted with regard to both lots. City
<br />Engineer Campbell mentioned that the Variance is actually from Section 16.700. Mr.
<br />Beratlie was present in the audience. There being no comment from the audience, it
<br />was moved by Commissioner Lozano, seconded by Commissioner Antonini, and carried,
<br />that the public hearing be closed. After discussion by the Commission, upon motion
<br />of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Commissioner Rega, the following resolution
<br />was adopted by unanimous vote:
