regard to I-P District zoning. The staff recommended that the area be zoned I-P
with the promise that suggestions will be forthcoming from the Commission with
reapert to modifications of Ordinance No. 309. Chairman Landon thanked Mr. Oliver
for submitting the suggeetiona, whereupon Mr. Oliver made a few remarks regarding
the reasoning behind the suggested modifications. Mr. A.C. Peck was also present.
It was the consensus of the Commission that I-P zoning be recommended and that the
Rainer Aluminum and Chemical Corp. suggeetiona and modifications be taken under
advisement. A time schedule was discussed, and Chairman Landon said a recommenda-
tion to the City Council should be forthcoming if study sessions on the matter are
scheduled in addition to the regular meetings on the evenings of December 9 and
December 23. Chairman Landon then announced a study session for Wed., December 9,
at 7 Y.M., to consider the entire I-P section of Ord. No. 309, and invited Mr.
Oliver to attend the study session. Chairmen Landon asked that the pilot plant
area be defined precisely. Mr. Oliver thought this may not be practical, since it
would limit the location of other buildings. After discussion, it was agreed that
pilot plants not enclosed in a permanent structure shall be approved by the Com-
miaeion. Mr. Oliver was concerned with the term "light" manufacturing mentioned
in the Zoning Ordinance under I-P, whereas the term "any" manufacturing is mentione~
under the I Zoning District. Mr. Struthers suggested the words "accessory use" be
used in modification of Ord. No. 309. Upon motion of Chairmen Landon, seconded by
Commissioner Rega, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote:
RESOLUTION N0. 365
RESOLVED:
The City Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the Citq
Council:
1. That area within the boundaries of Anxcexation No. 35,
and located west of Sunol Blvd., should upon annexation
be zoned I-P (Industrial Park District).
2. The Commission declares an intent to recomaend certain
modifications to Ord. No. 309 regarding Industrial Park
District regulations.
Mr. Falea stated he had a communication from Mr. Dan Clapp, of Rainier Conotruction
Co., with regard to Conditional Use Permit No. 64-10, is order to install two
office trailers immediately north of Black Ave. and 600 ft. east of the inter-
section of Black Ave. and Aopyard Road, which was granted by the Commission on
May 27, 1964, for a period of six months. Mr. Clapp now requests a renewal for
one year, and hereafter on a yearly basis, if necessary. Mr. False said that the
staff considers this to be a reasonable request. City Attorney Strutbera advised
that an extension in time of a Conditional Use Permit should be.publiahed. Mr.
Falea said this would be accomplished.
Mr. Fales reminded the Commission that a draft description of the Pleasanton Area
Proposed General Plan had been sent the previous day to the members of the City
Council and Planning Commission for their comments, changes or suggeetiona to be
indicated by November 30.
Mr. False reported on the Alameda County Planning Commission meeting of November 23,
et which the applications of Volk-McLain and the Mormon Church were considered.
The City of Pleasanton was represented by members of the City Council, Planning
Commission, School District, Planning Consultants, several citizens and the staff.
He said that, following lengthy discussion, amendment to the Alameda County Master
Plan regaxding Volk-McLain was continued to January 18, 1965. The application of
ttte Mormon Church was continued to March 8, 1965. The County Planning Commission
wished to wait until the Pleasanton General Plan is approved before they make a
decision.
There being no further business to came before the Commission, upon motion of
Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and carried, the ameting
was adjourned at 9:50 P.M., to meet again on Wednesday, December 9, 1964, at B P.M.
