In giving the staff report, Mr. Fales reviewed
former reports dated December 23, 1964, and January 13, 1965. It was further
stated that the applicant has submitted new drawings which show a different archi-
tectural treatment of the building and retaining wall. The report suggested that
the fence on the east aide be placed on the property Line with the planter between
the fence and the retaining wall. It was also suggested that two planter pockets
should be provided and trees planted in the sidewalk on Main Street and one planter
pocket in the sidewalk on Ray Street. The five conditions listed in the report of
December 23, 1964, remain the same. Signs necessary for a permitted use are a
permitted acceaeory use in a C-C Zone. They may extend over the sidewalk but no
closer than 1~ ft. from the curb. The drawing submitted ahowe the sign 2 ft. from
the curb. Direct and constant illumination is allowed. It is understood that this
is an interior lighted sign which has previously been ruled to be direct and con-
stant illumination. No size limit is specified in the section covering signs for
a C-C District. Section 17.706 limits all signs to no more than 300 eq.ft, or
25 ft. in height. The proposed sign is approximately 140 eq.ft. and basically
24 ft. high with a small area slightly over 25 ft. It appears that the proposed
sign meets the Ordinance requirements. After discussion by the Commission, Mr.
Robinson, of Standard 011 Company, was asked if he would approve a few minor chengeF
namely, moving the fence back to the property line, using slump atone for the re-
taining wall and inserting tree planter pockets in the sidewalk on Main and Ray
Streets. Mr. Robinson concurred wfrh these recommendations. After further diacus-
aion by the Commission, upon motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commis-
sioner Lozano, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of those
Commissioners present:
RESOLUTION N0. 382
WHEREAS, the application of Standard 011 Co. of California, 320 Market
Street, Room 718, San Francisco, for a Zoning Permit with Site
Plan, Architectural and Landscape Approval in order to revise and expand
an existing automobile service station located at the southeast corner
of Main and Ray Streets, has come before this Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the above-mentioned application be appzoved subject to
the following conditions:
1.
