M I N U T E S <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE PLANNING C024SISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />August 11, 1965 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at <br />8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, Auguat 11, 1965, by Acting Chairman Antonini. <br />ROLL CALL showed the following: <br />Present Co~ieaionere Antonini <br />Johnston <br />Raga <br />Absent Chairman Landon <br />Commissioner McKenzie <br />Secretary False <br />Director of Public Works Alan Campbell served ae Secretary Pro Tempore <br />for this meeting. <br />On motion of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Commissioner Antonini, the minutes <br />of the meeting of July 28, 1965, were approved ae presented by unanimous vote of <br />those Commissioners present. <br />Acting Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of the <br />Pleasanton Women's Club for an Amendment to the Conditional Uee Permit issued <br />June 24, 1964, in order to construct a public playground at the northwest corner <br />of Regalia and Kottinger Avenues; said amendment to eliminate Condition No. 3 of <br />said permit, regarding the installation of reetroom facilities. Mr. Campbell read <br />the staff report which indicated that the proposed playground would be used pri- <br />marily for local residents within Kottinger Village thereby reducing the need for <br />reetroom facilities in this area. He went on to say that unattended reetrooms <br />tend to become a large maintenance and possibly a police problem, and that the <br />benefits provided by the zeatrooma would be vastly overshadowed by the maintenance <br />problems that would undoubtedly occur. There being no further discussion, it was <br />moved by Commissioner Rega, seconded by Commissioner Johnston, and carried, that <br />the public hearing be closed. After consideration by the Commission, upon motion <br />of Commissioner Rege, seconded by Commissioner Johnston, the following resolution <br />was adopted by unanimous vote of those Commissioners present: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 447 <br />RESOLVED: <br />The City Planning Commission, after the required public hearing, <br />hereby grants amendment to the Conditional Uee Permit issued <br />June 24, 1964, to the Pleasanton Women's Club to construct a <br />public playground at the northwest corner of Regalia and Kottinger <br />Avenues; said amendment to eliminate Condition No. 3 of ea id permit, <br />regarding the installation of reetroom facilities. <br />Acting Chairman Antonini simultaneously opened the public hearings on the appli- <br />cations of the Planning Commission for the following: Amenflment Eo prd.No.358,the <br />Subdivision Ordinance, in order to require wider public service and elope easements <br />in hillside subdivisions; Amendment to Ord. No. 309 assigning zoning districts to <br />the area of Annezation No. 36, Pleasanton-Sunol Annex "E"; Amendment to Ord. No. <br />309 assigning zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 38, Stanley Blvd., <br />Annex "B"; and Amendment to Ord. No. 309 assigning zoning districts to the area <br />of Annexation No. 39, "Lynnewood Annex". The matter concerning wider public service <br />and elope easements in hillside subdivisions was put on the agenda at the request of <br />the Planning Commission. Mr. Campbell indicated that the staff was unable to pre- <br />pare a comprehensive report to the Commission because of the difficulty in inter- <br />preting what the Commission wanted. He suggested that this matter be scheduled <br />for a study session et the next meeting so that the staff and Commission could <br />discuss the various aspects of the problem, and from this discussion prepare a <br />report for the Commission's consideration.
