Basic landscaping and parking should be provided <br />in accordance with Ord. 309, and be consistent <br />with phases as built. <br />Vice-Chairmen Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of Schulte- <br />Blackwell Development Co., P, 0, Box 817, Campbell, Calif., for a Conditional Uae <br />Permit in order to install a directional sign for the Highland Oake subdivision at <br />the southeast corner of Foothill Road and Betnal Ave., in a C-N District. Mr. Fales <br />presented the staff report, stating that in view of recent City policy it would seem <br />that the small directional eigne recently approved would be in order, rather than <br />the one large sign proposed by Schulte-Blackwell. Mr. Jim Blackwell, present in the <br />audience, stated this would meet with the approval of Schulte-Blackwell. Mr. Camp- <br />bell, City Engineer, stated Schulte-Blackwell would be required to work with the <br />staff in order to determine the location of directional eigne that will be used. It <br />was moved by Vice-Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commi.saioner Rega, and carried, that <br />the public hearing be closed. Thera being no further discussion, upon motion of <br />Vice-Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Rega, the following resolution was <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 488 <br />RESOLVED: <br />The application of Schulte-Blackwell Development Co., <br />P, 0. Box 817, Campbell, Calif., for a Conditional <br />Use Permit in order to install directional eigne for <br />the Highland Oaks subdivision, subject to the condi- <br />tions ae outlined in Resolution No. 468 for S. V. <br />Builders - Vintage Hills directional signs. <br />Vice-Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of the Planning <br />Commission for an amendment to Ord. No. 309 assigning zoning districts to the Brea <br />of Annexation No. 40, "Kaiser Quarry Annex 'A "'. Mr. Pales presented the staff <br />report and a map was displayed before the Commission for study. It was moved by <br />Commissioner Rega, seconded by Commissioner Plato, and carried, that the public <br />hearing be closed. There being no discussion, upon motion of Vice-Chairman Antonini: <br />seconded by Commissioner Plato, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous <br />vote. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 489 <br />RESOLVED: <br />The City Planning Commission hereby recommends to the <br />City Council that an amendment to Ord. No. 309 aeeigaing <br />zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 40, <br />"Kaiser Quarry Annex 'A "' be approved. <br />There were no referrals from Alameda County. <br />The next item on the agenda was discussion of Industrial Zoning by the Industrial <br />Development Committee, consisting of Mesara. Ralph Hitch, John Edmenda, and Harry <br />Shackleton. Mr. Hitch, Chairman of the Co®ittee, explained to the Planning Com- <br />miaeion the critical industrial land shortage in Pleasanton, and went on to elabor- <br />ate upon the fact that the City was losing industries to neighboring communities ae <br />a result of this shortage. Mr. Hitch appealed to the Commi,aeion to rezone more <br />land for industry, and suggested as a starter a 36-acre parcel off Santa Rita Road <br />near Mohr Avenue where one industry is interested in building a plant. Several <br />industrial plants have already been lost because of lack of land for this use. <br />With more Companies looking at the Pleasanton area, the industrial Development <br />Cosndttee urged the Planning Coamieaion to give this matter urgent and immediate <br />study. <br />There were no matters for the information of the Commission. <br />4. <br />
