Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the application of Rainier Construction
<br />Company, 6000 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, for a Variance in the rear-yard setback in
<br />construction of a single-family dwelling at 1702 and 1718 Orchard Way, in an R-1
<br />District. The two Variance applications were considered simultaneously. Mr. Fales
<br />presented the staff report which stated that this Variance request was minimum in
<br />all cases and the request was due to the fact that the developer is proposing to put
<br />an "L" shaped house on the lots. Upon motion of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by
<br />Commissioner Antonini, and carried, the public hearing was closed. After diecusaion
<br />by the Commission, upon motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Johnston, the following two resolutions were adopted by unanimous vote.

<br />WHEREAS, the application of Rainier Construction Company,

<br />WHEREAS, the application of Rainier Construction Company,

<br />District, has come before this Commission:

<br />RESOLVED: that the above-named application be approved.
<br />The next item on the agenda was the application of Wanda Aldrich, 393 Rose Avenue,
<br />for a 2oning Permit with Site Plan, Architectural and Landscape Approval in order
<br />to construct an eight-unit multiple dwelling at 421 Rose Avenue, in an RG-15
<br />District. Mr. Falea presented the staff report with stated conditions for approval.
<br />Mr. Al Morris, representing Mrs. Aldrich was present in the audience. After further
<br />diecusaion, the suggestion was made that the applicant come back at a later date
<br />with several alternate plane, including reduced units, combining driveways, etc.
<br />Upon motion of Chairman Landon, seconded by Commissioner Rega, and carried, it was
<br />determined to continue this application to the meeting of April 13, 1966, with the
<br />consent of the applicant.
<br />The next item on the agenda was the application of Patsy Ferrulli, 4130 Alvarado
<br />Street, for a Zoning Permit with Site Plan, Architectural and Landscape Approval
<br />in order to utilize an existing building at 706 Main Street as a restaurant, in a
<br />C-C District. Mr. Falea presented the staff report. Mr. Keith Fraser was present
<br />in the audience and introduced Dr. West, the owner of the property in question.
<br />Dr. bleat stated that he would agree to enter into an agreement with the City
<br />relative to a parking district at some future date. Mr. Lozano spoke stating that
<br />he felt it was unfair to the present businesses regarding the parking situation,
<br />there is not enough parking available now for the businesses already on this block.
<br />Mr. Lozano further stated that some other type of business, such as a barber shop or
<br />insurance office, could be established in this building. These types of businesses
<br />would require leas parking space. After further discussion, there was a motion by
<br />Commissioner Antonini for approval of this application, this motion died for lack of
<br />a second. Upon motion of Commissioner Rega, seconded by Commissioner Johnston, the
<br />following resolution was adopted with the following vote. AYES: Comcniasioner John-
<br />ston, Rega and Chairman Landon. NOES: Commissioner Antonini.

<br />WHEREAS, the application of Patsy Ferrulli, 4130 Alvarado
