M I N U T E S <br />of <br />THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />April 27, 1966 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to otder at <br />8:07 P.M., on Wednesday, April 27, 1966, by Chairman Landon. <br />ROLL CALL showed the following: <br />Present: Commissioner Antonini <br /> Plato <br />Chairman Landon <br />Secretary Falea <br />Absent: Commisaianer Johnston <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Co®iaeioner Plato, the minutes of <br />the meeting of April 13, 1966, were approved as presented by unanimous vote. <br />Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the consideration of amendments to the <br />Pleasanton General Plan relating to the location and number of Neighborhood Shopping <br />Centers adjacent to Hopyard Road south of the Arroyo Mocho, and adjacent to Los <br />Poaitas Boulevard in the vicinity of the Route 680 interchange. Mr. False pre- <br />sented, in part, the report from Livingston and Blayney dated March 18, 1966, which <br />outlined the various shopping center locations. Mr. Falea also read a co®unication <br />dated April 27, 1966, from the Pleasanton Valley Homeowner's Association signed by <br />George C. Mashes. This Letter was in favor of relocation of shopping center from <br />Black Avenue and Hopyard Road to Valley and Hopyard Road. Mr. Keith Fraser, repre- <br />senting Bevilacqua Bros., spoke in opposition Co the relocation. Mrs. Geraldine <br />Arbuckle spoke in opposition of the relocation of the centers and stressed the point <br />about making changes in the General Plan and amendments thereto. Mra. Arbuckle <br />displayed two charts showing the effect, in her opinion, of the relative location <br />of the centers. Mr. Dudley Proat was present in the audience and spoke in favor <br />and explained once again the reasons for the change in the location. Ted Fairfield, <br />representing Schulte-Blackwell, was present in the audience and asked for a contin- <br />uance of Item 4b on the agenda or to withdraw this application at this time. Also, <br />Mr. Fairfield stated that a shopping center was desired in the Schulte-Blackwell <br />development. Mr. Fairfield was instructed to submit a written statement stating <br />his desire to withdsaw the application of Schulte-Blackwell. Upon motion of Com- <br />missioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Plato, and carried, the public hearing <br />was closed. After further discussion, upon motion of Chairman Landon, seconded by <br />Comuiieaioner Plato, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 555 <br />WHEREAS, the consideration of amendments to the Pleasanton <br />General Ylan relating to the location and number <br />of Neighborhood Shopping Centers adjacent to Hopyard <br />Road south of the Arroyo Mocho, and adjacent to Loa <br />Poaitas Boulevard in the vicinity of the Route 680 <br />interchange, has come before this Commission: <br />NOWT THEREFORE, BE IT <br />RESOLVED: that the Planning Commission reco®ends to the City <br />Council that General Plan be amended to show that <br />shopping center at Hopyard and Black be exchanged <br />with the institutional use shown at Hopyard and <br />Valley. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Chairman Landon, the following <br />resolution wsa adopted with vote as follows: AYES: Commissioner Antonini, Chairman <br />Landon. NOES: None Abstained: Commissioner Plato. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 556 <br />RESOLVED: that the Planning Commission recommends to the City <br />Council an amendment to the General Plan showing that <br />there will be a shopping center near Loa Poaitas Boule- <br />vard in the vicinity of the Route 680 interchange, in <br />conjunction with the Schulte-Blackwell development. <br />
