The next item on the agenda was Communications. The first item was discussion of
future land use; Western Sierra Lumber Company property. Chris Beratlis was present
in the audience speaking for Western Sierra Lumber Company. Mr. Beratlis stated
that this property was zoned commercial in the County and the desire of the
property owner was to have the same zoning level, higher commercial or high density
zoning, should this property be annexed to the City of Pleasanton. It was generally
felt by the Commission that a higher zoning should be applied to this property.
Reference was made to a service station on the corner of Valley and Santa Rita Road,
and the Commission stated thAt they would wait for a referral from Alameda County
before making any statement on this subject.
The next item was the letter from Mr. Maggach which was discussed briefly earlier in
the meeting. After further discussion it was determined that a time limit would be
set, probably for one year, lot to be kept clear, all storage to be inside the
building and applicant was instructed to obtain a Conditional Use Permit and submit
same to Planning Commission for formal action.
The next item on the agenda was the proposed First Street Park -Pleasanton Police
Association. Mr. Campbell read a letter from the Park and Recreation Commission
concurring with the Police Association drawings. Mr. Campbell also read a letter
from the Police Association to Mr. Falea which stated that picnic tables and
possibly playground equipment would be added as funds permitted. The City would
maintain the parlc. Upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner
Arnold, and carried, it was determined to recommend approval of this park.
Under Reports by Commission Committees, Mr. Campbell presented the minutes of the
recent Subdivision Committee meeting.
At this time, upon motion of Commissioner Arnold, seconded by Chairman Antonini,
and carried, the following motion was adopted:
MOVED: that the Planning Commission wished to endorse
the position of a full time planner on the City
staff.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion of
Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and carried, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:40 P.M., to meet again on Wednesday, July 13, 1966, at 8:00 P.M.
