MINUTES <br />of <br />THE PLANNING CO[~Il~D:SSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />June 28, 1967 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at <br />8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 28, 1967, by Chairman Antonini. <br />ROLL CALL showed the following: <br />Present: Commissioner Garrigan <br />Plato <br />Chairman Antonini <br />Secretary Spank <br />Absent: Commissioner Arnold <br />Johnston <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Plato, and carried, <br />the minutes of June 12, June 14, and June 19, 1967, were approved as presented <br />by unanimous vote. <br />3. Meeting Open for env Member of the Audience to Address the PlanninK Commission <br />Mrs. Marie Arbini addressed the Commission asking for permission to open an <br />Emergency Fund Center Thrift Shop in the house adjacent to St. Augustines Church. <br />Mrs. Arbini indicated this would be a temporary use to continue through the end <br />of August, 1967. At this point, Chairman Antonini tabled this matter until later <br />in the meeting in order to receive an interpretation from the City Attorney. <br />4a. UP-67-9 Lmnewood Methodist Church. <br />Chairman Antonini opened the meeting on the application of Lynnewood Methodist <br />Church, 1560 Santa Rita Road, Pleasanton, for a Use Permit under Section 4.309 <br />to allow a church meeting place in portions of an existing residence located <br />on the west side of Foothill Road, approximately 1/4 mile north of Bernal in an <br />"A" District. Mr. Spank presented the staff report which roc(mm~ended approval <br />with stated conditions. Mr. Darrell Darling, Pastor of the Church, was present <br />in the audience and asked to amend the original application to now apply for use <br />of ten acres for church use, including the residence which would be used as <br />a meeting place. Mr. Darling also asked that the twenty foot driveway be changed <br />to allow two driveways of ten feet each. <br />The Commission indicated that a public hearing would have to be published if an <br />amendment were to be made to the original application; and that a Site Plan, <br />Landscape and Architectural Approval would be required. Mr. Don Sooby asked for <br />approval of Land use and that at a later date a Site Plan, Landscape and Archi- <br />tectural Approval application would be submitted. Due to confusion between <br />members representing the Church, Chairman Antonini called for a five minute <br />recess to allow the members to come to a definite decision pertaining to this <br />application. At 8:35 P.M., Chairman Antonini called the meeting back to order. <br />At this point, Mr. Darling indicated that the desire was to proceed with the <br />application as now submitted and pending before the Commission. Upon motion of <br />Comaissioner Garrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, the following Resolution <br />was adopted by unanimous vote: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 682 <br />WHEREAS, the application of Lynnewood Methodist Church, 1560 <br />Santa Rita Road, Pleasanton, for a Use Permit under <br />Section 4.309 to allow a church meeting place in <br />portions of an existing residence located on the <br />West side of Foothill Road, approximately 1/4 mile <br />North of Bernal in an "A" District, has come before <br />this Commission: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT <br />RESOLVED: that the above named application be approved subject to <br />the following conditions: <br />1. Approval is granted for a period of three years. <br />2. Applicant shall submit plans for Site Plan, Land- <br />scape and Architectural Approval. <br />3. Plans shall provide for adequate access (20 feet <br />6-28-67 <br />
