Planning Commission, Civic Overlay District Amendment
Application of the Planning Commission, City of Pleasanton, for an
amendment to Ordinance No. 520, establishing Article 14, Civic Overlay
District (C-0).
Chairman Antonini opened the Public Hearing. Mr. Castro read a communi-
cation from the City Manager, urging the Planning Commission to take
positive action at this meeting on the above subject. Mr. Castro
presented a map describing the precise boundaries of the Civic Overlay
District. Basically, the boundaries as recommended by the Planning
Director were as follows: Beginning approximately 200 ft. west from the
future alignment of Bernal Avenue, continuing in an easterly direction on
the future realignment of Bernal Avenue to Pirst Street to Abbie and
continuing along the rear property line of those properties which will
ultimately front on Bernal Avenue.
Mr. Castro also expanded on the staff report and the recommendations
as noted on the report submitted by Neill Smith & Associates. The
Planning Director further elaborated on the specifics of the proposed
district, emphasizing that the purpose of the overlay district was to
provide the City with the necessary controls to determine whether or not
future developments fronting on or adjacent to the Civic Center would be
of a quality and compatibility as that of the Civic Center.
Upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Garrigan, and
carried, the Public Hearing was closed.
