<br />MINUTE S <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />Multi-Purpose Room - Valley View School <br />480 Adams Court <br />August 28, 1968 <br />The rogu7arly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order <br />by Vice Chairman Plato at 8:00 PM. <br />1. ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT Co®isaioner Arnold <br />Conavissioner Garrigan <br />Commissioner Gibbs <br />Vice Chairman Plato <br />ABSENT Chairman Antonini (due to illness of wife) <br />Secretary Castro <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and <br />carried, the minutes of the August 14, 1968 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Z-68-51, Evelvn Alcon <br />Application of Evelyn Alcon for a zoning permit to allow erection of a <br />sign at 818 Main Street. <br />Vice Chairman Plato opened the Public Hearing, and Assistant Planner <br />Aiello explained the staff report. Basically, Mr. Aiello stated that <br />the requirements were all met and that the sign would be compatible with the <br />surroundings. Upon motion of Commissioner Arnold, seconded by Coa~mi eei Dort <br />Garrigan, and carried, the Public Hearing was closed. UPON MOTION OF <br />COMMISSIONER ARNOLD, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER GARRIGAN, THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 811 <br />WHEREAS, the application of Evelyn Alcon fora zoning <br />permit to allow erection of a sign at 818 Main <br />Street, has come before this Commission, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that 2-68-51 be approved subject to the <br />following condition: <br />1. That the permit is granted for the property <br />as described in the application and any attach- <br />ments thereto, and as shown on the attached <br />plan, labeled Exhibit A. <br />b. Z-68-54, Larrv Riera <br />Application for a zoning permit to allow the erection of a sign at <br />125-C West Neal Street. <br />Vice Chairman Plato opened the Public Hearing. Assistant Planner Aiello <br />read the staff report, which, in essence, stated that the sign design <br />left something to be desired, and that it is incompatible with the signs <br />in the immediate surroundings. He also demonstrated photographs to <br />visibly explain this opinion. Commissioner Gibbs questioned whether the <br />Planning Commission had jurisdiction in the form of ordinance to criticize <br />the appearance of a sign, since the submittal met the required specifica- <br />tions and only failed to meet Planning Department approval on t1.ie grounds <br />of aesthetics. It was noted by Assistant Planner Aiello that the applicant <br />has been very cooperative. After some discussion, it was felt that this <br />matter should be left in the hands of the Planning staff. Upon motion <br />of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Vice Chairman Plato, and carried, <br />the Public Hearing was closed.
