PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 2853 RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE PLEASANTON LIBRARY AS FILED UNDER CASE UP-86-42 WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has applied for a conditional use permit to establish a library facility on an approximately 4 acre site located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Old Bernal Avenue; and WHEREAS, zoning for the property is "P/C-O" (Public and Institutional - Civic Overlay) District; and WHEREAS, at its meeting of October 22, 1986, the Planning Commission approved a negative declaration for Cases UP-86-42 and Z-86-339 after considering all public testimony, relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City staff concerning this application; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings: A. That the proposed location of the conditional use is in accordance with the objectives of the zoning ordinance and the purposes of the district in which the site is located. The project is located in the "P/C-O" (Public and Institutional Civic - Overlay) District. The Civic Overlay district is reserved for construction and use of office, commercial and public buildings compatible with the civic center character of the district. In addition, the "P" Zoning District conditionally allows public buildings and related facilities. The proposed library would be an appropriate civic use in the zoning district and would be generally compatible with the scale, design and use of the existing municipal buildings in the Civic Center area. B. That the proposed location of the conditional use and the conditions under which it would be operated or maintained will not be detrimental. to the public health, safety, or welfare, or materially injurious to the properties or improvements in the vicinity. The library will not interfere with the purposes of the "P/C-O" District and is an appropriate use for the site.
