Project and subsequent development of the Project site, as <br />more fully stated in the Statement of Overriding <br />Considerations (Section II, below). <br /> <br /> B. Loss of Aqricultural Lands. <br /> <br /> 1. Facts. <br /> <br /> The DEIR indicates at page 14 that the development <br />of the Project area will cause the irretrievable loss of over <br />100 acres of prime agricultural lands with structures, <br />parkway areas and roads. <br /> <br /> 2. Findinqs. <br /> <br /> a. The City Council finds that the loss <br /> <br />of agricultural soils cannot be mitigated and represents an <br />unavoidable significant impact of the Project and its <br />subsequent development; however, the Council also finds that <br />the economic, social and other benefits of the Project and <br />subsequent development of the Project site, as more fully <br />stated in the Statement of Overriding Considerations (Section <br />II, below) outweigh this impact. <br /> <br /> C. Loss of Wildlife Habitat. <br /> <br /> 1. Facts. <br /> <br /> The DEIR states at page 19 that the Project and <br />subsequent development of the Project site would eliminate <br />most or all of the grassland vegetation in the agricultural <br />areas and replace it with paving, buildings and ornamental <br />landscaping. As a result, the type of habitat available for <br />wildlife species would change and the amount of habitat would <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
