The list is not intended to be a
comprehensive summary rather a "snapshot" of some of the survey results.
^ Over 96% of the respondents say the city is an excellent or
overall good place to live and raise children (extremely high
compared to other cities)
^ Nearly 8 in 10 say they feel very safe in Pleasanton
^ The City received an excellent or overall good job rating from
93% of respondents -that's one of the highest ratings that
FMMA (survey consultant) has seen in California.
^ Traffic, the cost of housing and growth were the top concerns
^ 25% of the respondents volunteered traffic as the most
important problem in Pleasanton, another 15% offered housing
costs, and 10 % said too much growth is the most important
problem.
^ Traffic signal timing received the highest negative rating of any
city service, and 11 % said that traffic or signal timing would be
the one thing they would change about Pleasanton.
^ Nearly three quarters agreed that the City should do more to
make housing affordable.
As with the prior community satisfaction surveys, Staff intends to review the survey
document fully and make a determination whether it indicates the need to modify staff
goals, or service delivery procedures. One area that Staff has been working on for the
past year is the streamlining of Development Services. Staff is planning to bring the
results of this effort to the City Council in August 2007. Through the budget process,
Staff is also enhancing the Traffic Division through the addition of technical staff to
address the signal timing concerns.
