policies on page 14-4 are the more recent policies, discussing such things as including
development on a more regional scale and locating development near transit.
Chairperson Fox said that the text is confusing. Ms. Stern mentioned that there are also
some additional supportive goals that could be included.
Page 14-4
Chairperson Fox said that bullet points should be added to 14-4.
Pa eg 14-5
Commissioner Narum noted that "Housing" in the second paragraph talks about people
working near a congested freeway section. Nowhere in the transportation section does it
mention the ACE Train, which has become a major part of the commute. Ms. Stern
noted that would be in the transportation section. She will make a note so to add
discussion there.
Commissioner Blank noted that a fair number of employees at his place of work take the
ACE Train from the Silicon Valley just to get to Pleasanton. He suggested that it would
be interesting to gather and examine those data. We think that the train takes people to
Silicon Valley, but there are a fair number of people who take the train into Pleasanton.
Commissioner Narum noted that there are people getting off in Pleasanton.
Ms. Stern stated there are statistics for the number of people who get off the train in
Pleasanton and that staff can look into that.
Pa eg 14-6
Commissioner Narum noted that the "Airport" section discussed "over 200,000 annual
aircraft operations" and inquired about the definition. Commissioner Olson replied that
referred to take-offs and landings. Chairperson Fox suggested including that definition in
the text. It was suggested that operations be called "arrivals" and "departures."
Chairperson Fox suggested referencing Livermore's Airport Master Plan. She did not
believe it had been approved yet. Commissioner Blank noted that he would not be
supportive of including a document that had not been approved by the City of Livermore.
Commissioner Olson inquired whether "no additional runways or extensions" was still
the case. Livermore was going to replace the runways. Ms. Stern replied that was not
currently on the table because Livermore abandoned preparation of its master plan.
Commissioner Blank believed a business park was being considered south of the airport
near the runway and that new hangars were being built where existing parking is located.
He added that of the noise complaints, approximately 50 percent come from the same two
houses located in Pleasanton.
EXCERPTS: PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES, March 14, 2007 Page 4 of 8
