Although the City Council has not formally endorsed the
Stream Master Management Plan, it has expressed support for strategies included in the
SMMP related to water management and conservation.
o TriValley Business Council's Working Landscape Plan: This plan is described on p.14-12.
The concept of a working landscape is the recognition that a lazge proportion of open space is
utilized for agricultural production, including cattle grazing, olive trees, vineyazds and
specialty crops, and that strategies that make agriculture at the urban edge more viable will
preserve our greenbelts, support tourism, and help secure a local source of food. Programs on
p.14-21 support this concept and the strategies of the plan. Although the City Council has not
formally endorsed the Working Landscape Plan, the goals of this plan appeaz to be aligned
with the City's goals for preserving open space and community sepazators, for supporting the
South Livermore Valley Area Plan, and for a diverse local economy.
o Participation in the Altamont Landfill and Resource Recovery Open Space Advisory
Committee: This committee includes representatives from Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and
Alameda County and was formed to acquire open space with money generated from a
settlement of litigation over the expansion of the Altamont Landfill. It is described on p.14-10
of the Draft Subregional Planning Element. Since 2005, two pazcels in the Pleasanton
Ridgelands have been acquired, and the decision to allocate funds for acquisition in both cases
was ratified by the Pleasanton City Council. Program 12.3 on p.14-21 supports the City's
continuing participation in the Open Space Advisory Committee.
o TriValley Business Council's Preserving Prosperity Project and Wellspring for
Entrepreneurship and Innovation report: This project and the results of the study aze
described on p. 14-13 of the Draft Subregional Planning Element. The Wellspring for
Entrepreneurship and Innovation report takes a regional perspective and describes the Tri-
Valley's changing economic landscape and the strategies which will be needed to keep the
region competitive. This project was used as a background resource for the City's Economic
Strategic Plan. Program 16.1 on p.14-23 suggests working with the Tri-Valley Business
Council to implement strategies from the Preserving Prosperity Project.
Please contact me or Janice Stern, Principal Planner (jstern@ci.pleasanton.ca.us or 925.931.5606) if
you have further questions regazding this material.
