See the answer to number 1 under Natural Gas and Energy. Note that earlier versions of the Energy
Element did not contain this table. Staff apologizes for not making it clear that redline means new
information while strikeout means deleted information.
Renewab/es:
3. Are we sure that the generous rebates will continue for the life of this General Plani: What is
considered generous
The Pleasanton Energy Committee wrote this text. Staff suggests rewriting the last sentence of this
section as follows: "In addition, as of 2005 the State's Emerging Renewables Program provides
generous rebates for residential and commercial renewable energy installations."
Transmission and Distribution of E/ectricitv.•
4. The "words" higher voltages in the third sentence are missing the 1 at the end to give the explanation
of voltage as a footnote at the end of the page.
The "1" is in both versions although somewhat small as it is in superscript.
5. What is Cal-Mot and Lukas There should be some footnote for these for resident understanding.
These are the names of single-customer electric substations. Ca1Mat operated asand-and-gravel
company in the Planning Area. Luka was another large company with asingle-customer PG&E
substation. Because none of the three companies is currently operating asingle-customer PG&E
station in Pleasanton and the names of the new companies are proprietary, staff suggests amending the
last sentence under Transmission and Distribution of Electricity as follows:
"There axe also three smaller substations that serve single customers: V_:__°• r'°' ",r°~ _~-' r .-'-° "
Tri- loo/%v CaAacitY /ncrease Project"
6. Should it be transmission network's capacity in paragraph 2$
See response to 8, below, where staff recommends changes to the text of paragraph 2.
The - is left out of Tri Valley in the clean copy in paragraph 2.
Yes. Subsequent to this, the Department has decided to always hyphenate Tri-Valley. Staff will
change this name throughout the General Plan.
8. I am not sure that paragraph 2 makes sense as written.
Staff suggests rewriting paragraph two of this section as follows:
"Local electrical capacity is a function of ~t#~transmission network capacity to bring this power
to Pleasanton and the Tri Valley, ~~ t~capacity of the local substations to lower the voltaees
or step down the power to deliverable voltages, and e~~the ~abilit ~ of the local
distribution network to deliver adequate power to customers~."
9. Paragraph 3, the - is again missing from Tri Valley.
See answer to 7, above.
McGovern's Q&A, Energy Element '1 5/25/2007
