THE CITY OF <br />~L~~S~4NTC~No <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Economic Vitality <br />Committee <br />Minutes <br />Crowne Plaza Hotel, 11950 Dublin Canyon Road <br />May 19, 2005 <br />7:30 a.m. <br />Meeting Called to Order: <br />Dave Walden convened the meeting at 7:30 a.m. The roster of attendees is attached. <br />City staff members present were, Principal Planner, Janice Stearns, Assistant Director of <br />Public Works, Scott Baker, Economic Development Manager, Pamela Ott, <br />Administrative Assistant, Rebecca Perry. Also in attendance were Council member <br />Matt Sullivan, and guests, Jeb Bing, Jill Buck and Janet Vader. <br />Agenda Amendments: <br />No amendments were made <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Motion to approve minutes was made by Jim Pease and seconded by Julie Robey. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Meeting Open to the Public: <br />No comments were offered. <br />Discussion re: Energy Element: <br />Janice Stearns, Principal Planner gave a quick plug for the vision statement that <br />generally goes in the beginning of the general plan. It's a statement of the ideal <br />future. There will be a public meeting on Tuesday, May 31, to discuss ideas that the <br />community has. The city website is another area in which you can express your ideas <br />for Pleasanton's future. <br />Ms. Stearns also spoke about the energy element, which was drafted by the Energy <br />Committee over 2 years ago. It consists of background material, goals, policy and <br />programs related to energy. It promotes the actions or incentives rather than <br />mandating or regulating. <br />The energy element is a guide for Pleasanton, to move the city toward a sustainable <br />energy future. What can we do to conserve energy and help people conserve. Some <br />ideas are to extend the green building concerns. The element discusses the fiscal <br />
